@trinsec Yeah, it's pretty large, and is pretty fresh (I mean there are a lot of good come and go). The old technology is not efficient as nowadays, but I think instead of a cold broken machine exhibited in museum, it would be nice to have a working machine for demo. For typewriter, I think the mechanical design is amazing (I know the CPU uses much more higher techs but you can't really experience it)

And i bought an almost new typewriter for about 40 USD. I think it's a great deal. The typewriter is working perfectly.

I avoid buying electronic devices since I can't know if it's still working... but they're so cool (in terms of logging human history)

night market

I mainly forced on old devices, but there are a lot of goods, as long as you know how to distinguish them.

This has mostly been reported as "trans women banned from women's chess" but it's much more sinister. (as if it weren't already.) ALL trans people...

@trinsec I'll try to remember that😂 I forgot to take a picture until I got home

On a whim, last night my friend and I decided to cycle to the night market 18km away, leaving at 8pm and arriving home at 1.30am. Including wandering around, riding 40KM in one night was a real challenge, and this morning (assuming 11AM is still considered as morning) I woke up with sore legs and a bit of chest pain (when breathing deeply). I guess now that's my new limit of how long I can ride in one night (before is 30KM).

The night market is kinda expected to be not the best one: the price is rocketing high. I bought a cup of mojito and had some chit chat with the boss, knowing the stand fee is 270 CNY each night, which is the fundamental cause of the high price, considering this is not a very popular place: 18KM away from the center of the city, with no attractions around.

My friend told me that there will be an unmanaged night market hosted only on Saturday nights, near the night market we went to. It will be much bigger in terms of scale, and will be much interesting. So... I'm expecting that one.

Great 78 Project [1]

@lucifargundam Sounds like you're going to change something, kind of fundamental of the company. There are always some people who hate changes and new rules, but they will eventually be there (if they're good for the company). If that's the reason you're there, and with the encouragement from higher up, I'd say do it.

However, maybe I'm being overly paranoid, but I would suggest that you seek an effective form of reassurance (rather than verbal encouragement) from your leader. In China, many subordinates will become scapegoats for their leaders when things get out of hand.

@lucifargundam Hmmm... What kind of gray? If it doesn't hurt anyone, I think it's fine. Also, you mentioned that "set the company back years of progress", which I assume it's not you leading the company into this gray area, instead, the company is already there.

What did the leader say?

I might fail to figure out how job-finding apps and HRs work.

Since I switched to the new job-finding app, I sent out about 500 applications in the past 2 weeks. Most of them get rejected or get ignored. That's fine, considering I am still a fresh man despite I already graduated a year ago. Normally they require at least 1 year of working experience, and most of them are asking for 3 years of experience while only paying less than 2K USD per month before tax. (Well, I still don't know how you are going to find your first job if everyone is requiring some previous experience)

But still, some HR does reply to me saying they're interested in me and ask when I have time to have a detailed chat. Which makes me believe that the previous experience is not a must-have, people are not machines, they can learn, and I can learn.

However, this is the weirdest part. Once I replied to them*, they just start to ignore me. I can see they are online, my replies are delivered, but they don't read it, and they don't respond to me. Where did their "interest" go?

*: I replied to let them know that, for online discussion, I'm ok whenever they're ready; for offline discussion, afternoon is preferred. I don't think this kind of reply will end the conversation.
