TIL🧵2/3: Many have said it, I'm going to say it, too: I miss Quote Tweets. I appreciate the thoughtful justification for not implementing them, but also disagree. My ideal would be
a quote tweet that points up 😍☝️
rather than Twitter's pointing down 🤬👇
because I think sometimes it's really important to contextualize or emphasize why you're boosting someone's post.
@robhawkes have you done any testing and/or calibration of the Sonoff humidity sensors. The last time I played with this stuff they were so inconsistent to the point of uselessness. One would be at 40% while another at 65%.
does anyone know who is doing research on #seaweed as a superfood, carbon sink & packaging alternative?
In The Garden we like to investigate some challenging questions. These two from our archives seem pretty relevant in the context of COP27:
"Can we build a climate-resilient world?" with Jonathon Porritt
https://onegarden.com/science/earth-day-climate-resilience
"Could nuclear energy power the world?" with Dr. Robert Hayes

@Iainfarrell I moved to deepest darkest Kent. I basically live in a field. Working on onegarden.com.
Maybe it’s just me - or #Mastodaoine - but while Twitter has the air of an end of conference networking drinks (“LOL I have a personality also here’s my card”) this feels more like it could be the 10pm pub drinks where dreaming & scheming & mischief & revolution might just happen…
A word of advice from others - since the servers communicate, you don't necessarily have to sign up on one of the busier ones. For instance, I chose one that seems more to align with my interests, but if you search (for instance) for hashtag #TwitterMigration you will be able to see very helpful posts.
@Iainfarrell very well indeed. It's been a long time! How are you? Still up north?
I see a lot of people talking about how Mastodon "Feels like the Internet I remember from 20 years ago."
That's no accident. That's Federation. That's UseNet, IRC, Email, Message Boards, etc. What do they all have in common?
Federation: Users congregating around watering holes of common interest, but still being a part of a larger whole.
THIS IS HOW THE INTERNET WAS DESIGNED TO BE. And I am HERE for it.
@busesarecoolactually Amazing. Just what I was looking for.
@busesarecoolactually thank you!
@neurofrontiers this is super interesting. Thanks for sharing!
@jesswade I don't know if this is the kind of thing you're looking for, but we had an amazing talk in The Garden from Dr Melena Rice about a missing planet from our solar system.

@Ferikmalae I'm new here too, but you'll be amazed at how quickly you find your feet. Seems to be a much friendlier place too, which is nice.
@CascadianViews thanks! I'll give them a whirl. I suspect this is going to be a fairly dynamic space for a while...
@trinsec thank you, that's really helpful.
