@trinsec Thanks! I don't own a car and my house is not well connected by public transportation, so I walk to my office every day. I'm used to walk at least 5-7k daily, it really helps me to sleep better

@ddavo it's so good!! We have a very similar drink in Italy called "orzata", but it's made with bitter almonds and I don't like it as much

Optimist: The glass is ½ full.
Pessimist: The glass is ½ empty.
Excel: The glass is January 2nd.

that happened today:
1. walked 20k steps;
2. had a very sweet and refreshing horchata in the afternoon;
3. bought a cute cheap summer dress at the street market.

I survived to my seminar, now I can crash and sleep the whole afternoon

@PiperPilotPaul i'll have to include and expand his analysis in my phd thesis, but the method he used does not look mathematically solid. Also, he's rushing to graduate next month and the code he's written was not integrated with the rest of the software... so yeah, lots of work for me

i miss him so much, I can't wait to go back home and squish his cheeks

@PiperPilotPaul for now I get to avoid correcting his thesis, since he's not sending me the chapters he's writing 😎 but when I go back to my institution (I'm abroad now, assembling and testing modules for a different experiment) I'll have to redo all his analysis using the techniques I suggested, since he refused to try them out :ablobcatgrumpy:

@tknterry well, I'm not the "official" supervisor, but I am a bit worried since he wants to apply for a phd position too and continue working on this project...

@overcode Hi! nice to meet you too! FMA will always hold a dear place in my heart, it's the one series that made me start watching anime consistently. I just happened to catch and episode on tv of the oldest series and I had to rush to buy the manga too.
I definitely recommend Planetes if you like hard scifi, the animation studio even consulted JAXA to make it look more realistic. I enjoyed both anime an manga, but they are quite different, sharing only the major characters and some plot points. The first starts off as a slice of life, but it then develops into a story centered around a terrorist plot. The manga insted retains its 'slice of life' feel until the end. It heavily focuses on personal issues, such as loneliness and regret. Personally I watched the anime first, but the manga is pretty short (only 4 volumes) if you want to check if you like the series.

@tfardet I would like to talk to him in person but I am abroad at the moment so it's a bit difficult, and I would like to avoid sending him an email since the tone in written text can be easily misinterpreted.

I was joking about it with a senior researcher at the beginning but now he as noticed his behaviour too, I think he's going to disccuss it with him.

for a bit of context, his thesis is based on the analysis of the result of a 3D reconstruction algorithm and software that I developed. There's not much documentation yet, so for doubts he has to ask me. Now he's sending the results of his analyisis to everyone in the group except me...

I thought it was a coincidence but now it happened too many times in the past months - the master student I'm supervising is actively ignoring my suggestions and avoiding me...

@codewiz I loved Natsume Yuujinchou and Mushishi to bits💜
