My son just tried asking me a joke riddle, translated into English from German. As you might expect it was based on a pun. Fortunately, the pun was translatable, unfortunately he's not an experienced translator, so I got "What walks without feet? Water!". So close...

@trinsec Yup! He's six and I'm not sure how well he understands even the concept of puns. Anyway, attempts at jokes are a new thing for him, I hope he will try more.
@timorl I still distinctly remember when my literature teacher explained what makes a joke funny (nonthreatening surprise), upon which I promptly started trying to invent jokes (with a nonzero amount of success).
