Hello everyone, my name is Tamara (she/her), I am a PhD student in cultural anthropology and my research focusses on the development of artificial intelligence in the context of humanoid robotics. To really get a grasp of what is going on, I also study computer science and program parts of the robots’ software myself.
I am new here and would love to connect with people working on similar or related topics!

Curve25519 implementation is both the most blessed and cursed code in the world.
On one hand, it has the cleanest math and attracted the best minds to work on it. Now the code deployed in most projects have been fully optimized, and formally verified to be mathematically correct and secure. One of the biggest accomplishment in crypto applications in recent years.
On the other hand, the monstrous, machine-generated assembly or C code will give any unsuspected programmer a heart attack.
Seriously, "you are not expected to understand this."
A niech Was wszystkich szlag! Przez Was instaluję wciąż jakieś aplikacje i czytam o nowych projektach. Najpierw #Mastodon, #Friendica i całe to #fediversum. Potem #OSM, #Element, a wczoraj #DeltaChat.

I don't remember exactly why I dropped them, but I'm certainly glad that I did. Afraid.org works quite well for me now.
I recommend this reading list. There are a lot of great topics in here for a budding analytic philosopher.

Republican North Dakota legislators have introduced SB2333, a bill that prohibits large tech companies from locking their users into a single app store or payment processor.

While his has implications for Android and other large tech platforms, its most immediate and far-reaching effects with be on Apple, whose Ios platform uses lock-in to monopolize both apps and payments (and another domain, not mentioned in the bill: repairs).

@jmw150 This was one of the links you might be interested in. And don't get discouraged by PA being required for Löb's theorem to work in most explanations – all that is actually needed is the ability to embed proofs in the system, which I would argue is a property one would usually like even in non-PA contexts.
Unlikely anyone would be interested, but I'm passionate enough to gladly explain the ideas in this paper and generally things about Löb's theorem personally. I'll probably write this down at some point, but for now anything up to a Jitsi meeting is on the table if you, dear reader, are interested.
I don't think I have posted here about probably my favourite paper, and I have recently been reminded that it might be a good idea: https://intelligence.org/files/ParametricBoundedLobsTheorem.pdf
It's about achieving cooperation in the open-source version of the Prisoner's Dilemma in practice. (It's predecessor paper about doing this with infinite resources is also pretty good.) It uses Löb's theorem in such a beautiful way and the end result is somewhat surprizing, especially to people not used to thinking about provability.
Hey fediverse folk! Is there somewhere a map of federation/defederation of fediverse? I mean which instances see/listen to which other instances (since the relationship is asymmetrical). Does not have to be graphical, but ideally searchable (text files?).
Point is, I suspect my home instance might be blocked by some other instances I am interested in and I have no way to know whether people out there will even see my toots if I speak to them first.
Any explanations and pointers appreciated. Thanks.
