@kallekn
Att en skulle komma att sakna all dessa "hosta kan vara dold sjukdom" rubriker, och tänka på dem som spår av bättre tider var inte något jag väntat mig
@russianforces
I really appreciate you have the stamina to keep speaking this humane perspective in public Pavel!
But I can also appreciate the objection (and here I am reading people very generously) that just speaking of almost utopic futures is not that useful.
What concrete conclusions on immediate goals do you draw from the dream of a democratic Russia?
@jaztrophysicist
But if you stop now will it still count as a Christmas miracle in the next report to CNRS?
@audreytruschke
Sorry if I misunderstand what you meant, but that link goes to a form to register and not a copy of the slides. I'm really curious to see the slides though :(

@madwonk May the odds of the (academic?) job market be ever in your favour!
@madwonk I though the point was experiencing the feeling of realising you are in debt without any obvious job prospects?
@PopovaProf
I think I get your point: a large part of Russians seem to unquestioning support Putin, is that what you mean?
Because I must say I find the formulation "they respond [...] collectively" very confusing, it sounds like she accuses the pollster is talking to a choir...
The statement following the quote is not much better: "they support whatever is thought to serve the collective interest" sounds to me as more or less what you expect from anyone responding to a question about how to resolve a interstate war: by expressing their understanding of what constitutes the common good of the country.
Only the "expressed by the president" hints at a different interpretation, and it took me a good while to get to the guess I opened with.
@OlyaOliker
Hurray, a new war and peace episode! 🎉
Oh no, the world still needs another war an peace episode 😿
Thanks, that brings some clarity, but could you maybe specify more concretely what processes you judge that the anti-putin opposition has condoned, and in which manner they did it?
(Also, is anti-putin opposition really such a homogeneous group one can consider its members as interchangeable when talking about responsibility?)
@PopovaProf
I apologise if I come across as rude, but I've now read this several times and I don't feel I understand the scope of your point.
Are you saying that before discussing Wester influence on the past actions of Russia they need to do something like a land acknowledgment about Russian imperialism?
Or do they need some deeper penance? Or should they give up on the topic forever because they are all so personally complicit in the war?
As predicted, just earlier: the initial „global greening“ effect due to our CO2 emissions has already been overwhelmed by the negative effect of climate change on vegetation. We’re now already into „global browning“.

RT @richardabetts
Hugely important paper!
"Global greening" since the 1980s actually reversed around the year 2000
The trend turned to "browning" in 90% of vegetated area due to climates becoming too hot and dry in…

EirGrid: "We welcome today the signing of key financial and technical agreements for the #CelticInterconnector project. This is a significant milestone and an 'anchor' in the future of the Ireland-France energy relationship.
The Celtic Interconnector is a key part of EirGrid’s strategic goal to transform Ireland’s power system and increase the use of renewable electricity. Interconnection with France makes the power system more resilient." 🇮🇪🤝🇫🇷 #energy #EnergySecurity
@kallekn du kanske kan finna följande tidslinje jag knåpade ihop dagarna efter den 15:e lite intressant: https://wonkpedia.org/mediawiki/index.php/Nov_15_Przewodow_explosion
Genuinely perplexed by the fact that we tally up the number of fossil fuel delegates at each #COP27 and calculate how much it grows every year, and cover the various ways in which they influence the outcome, but yet never think to tap them for loss and damage funding, or require the sorts of emissions-reductions commitments from them that we require from countries. They are more powerful and more responsible than any one country. They wanna play? Game on!
A promise from the developed world to foot more of the climate bill has raised fresh hopes of a breakthrough at the UN climate summit COP27. But there were fears it could collapse over the question of money. It was supposed to finish on Friday and is now expected to go on until at least Saturday.

Not sure what this account will be about, mostly boosting things I find interesting.
