@ren_stats Looking only at renewables doesn't tell about GHG emissions, the truly important thing.
Norway looks great, but has a strong oil and gas industry (ok, these emissions are not directly theirs since they export a lot; but they enable emissions from other countries).
France looks worse than Germany here, but a lot of its electricity is nuclear, so its GHG emissions are in fact lower than those of Germany.
This gives a more accurate picture (still not for Norway): app.electricitymaps.com/map

Humble request: do you know of any real life experience of post-capitalist economies, even partial ones? Local currencies? Cooperative models? Community land trusts? Priority given to resilience over efficiency? #solarpunk economies? There are a few usual suspects (Mondragon, Cooperativa Integral Catalana, Transition Network...), but I struggle to find long lists of cases. Paris's bedbug problem is probably no worse than other major cities.

An apparent resurgence of bedbugs has incited panic in France, but there is no scientific evidence of any increase in infestation rates this year.

Oklahoma's judicial selection process needs scrutiny

2006: nbcnews.com/id/wbna13599320

…during a trial in 2002, she heard the [penis] pump during the emotional testimony of a murdered toddler’s grandfather.

The grandfather “was getting real teary-eyed, and the judge was up there pumping on that pump,” she said. “It was sickening.”

Tack @dn för att ni inte släpper den här storyn.

Regeringen behöver faktiskt förklara vad den egentligen orsaken var. För säkerhetshot var det ju bevisligen inte.

I wanted to consolidate a few thoughts on google, misinformation, large language models, enshittification, and the fate of the web as we know it.

It started when Carl Zimmer shared this remarkable example of Google being fooled by machine-generated bullshit online.

Always depressed coming across anti-union propaganda from an otherwise insightful source, but I guess it's good to know you have those sort of basic blind spots.

Wow, who brought that thing? 🤩A nd did you actually measure anything off it?

So much wrong with the US health care system.

New research "published in the journal JAMA Internal Medicine, found a wide discrepancy in prices [for baby delivery]...ranging from less than $1,000...up to $100,000. Even at the same hospital, price quotes varied—sometimes by tens of thousands of dollars—depending on whether the researchers checked online or asked for a price quote by phone."

30 years ago, Russia's elected president and parliament both attempted to seize power. Yeltsin rolled out the tanks. A super-presidential constitution followed in December. Democrats abandoned Yeltsin, who turned to oligarchs for support and put #Russia on the path to #autocracy.
