Hooooooo boy. Student spouting misinformation about Covid vaccines in their microbiology homework. Makes me want to fail them from the class (this student should NOT become a nurse without some re-education, oy). I won't, of course, but I'll send them a message with my concerns, for what good it will do. There are times when I hate the Internet.

I am now compiling a list of all servers who may have an interest in joining the United Federation of Instances.
Quite a few instances have already signed up.
Please reach out to me, all servers of any size are welcome!
This is non binding, its just to get a preliminary list. You can withdrawl at any time and dont have to go through the application process. I just want to know what servers to reach out to once we begin kicking things off.
If you are a server admin please let me know **in DM** if you have an interest and I will add you to the (for now) private list. I want to only release the list once we have enough momentum so please respond in DM only.

An #introduction into our work on #glycotime! We are a lab joint between the Francis Crick Institute and the Department of Chemistry at Imperial College London. We develop what we call chemical "precision tools" to investigate protein #glycosylation. These tools are specific for individual #glycosyltransferases, #glycan subtypes or cell lines. We employ methods of #chembio including #OrgChem, protein engineering, #glycoproteomics, #imaging, #chemoenzymatic synthesis and drug discovery.
Solidarity with those fighting to get their servers back up and running . Good luck to all the federation servers fighting the good fight :rocket:

@trentbaur rage-tweeting can be part of the solution but no, I don’t think it’s *the* solution, lol. In terms of what normal people can do: Basically anything (non-violent) that makes it harder to be a bigot in public spaces and/or makes vulnerable persons safer in those same spaces. So, appealing to advertisers on social media, for example. You might not want to rage tweet at them, lol, but you can let them know that you won’t buy from a company that does business with bigots.

oh and in the way of AI-assisted peer review : the impressive and often correct ability to summarize scientific articles. If it doesn't end up saving time it will add a level of rigor to the exercise
@rupertoverall that might actually make it easier to game the system. Although the paper goes some way to provide these structured statements, peer review is more robust as a check, the best would be AI-assisted peer review, for example to propose feedback, counterpoints and protocols
