What is the best grammar checker tool for English?

Follow

@Sphinx No clue, I don't use those. I've always relied on trying to improve my knowledge manually. English is not my first language.

In fact, I usually turn off spellcheckers whenever I see them, because those red squigly lines distract me. :)

@Sphinx If you want I can respond to some of your posts to correct your English now and then, even if it might not have much to do with the contents of your post?

@trinsec @Sphinx

Feel free to correct my grammar. Most of my recent posts have grammatical errors, if you need the practice.

@Pat @trinsec

I don't like to correct other's English probably because my skills are not there yet, and also I don't like sit on high horse teaching people.

But we definitely can learn and improve together 😊

@Sphinx @trinsec

Pedantry is baked into my personality, but I'm not an equestrian so hopefully I don't get too high.

I put a note in my profile awhile back inviting folks to correct my grammar, but so far no takers...

@Pat

Your English is better than mine I can feel that, I need go take a look what's the word meaning you just said 😂 BRB

@trinsec

@Sphinx @trinsec

I did that intentionally. Many English speakers would not know either.

(I'm sure your Chinese is better than mine!)

@Pat

Pedantry

[excessive concern with minor details and rules.
"to object to this is not mere pedantry"]

This is a new word to me and i like this word. Thank you!

@trinsec

@Sphinx But would you like it if I correct you when I think something's wrong? Some people don't like getting corrected, so that's why I'm asking. Definitely not on a high horse here. ;)

@Pat

@trinsec

If I'm wrong, you can correct me. Don't worry.

@Pat

@Pat The mere fact you know your posts have grammatical errors isn't making me jump up fast to correct you. ;) Oh, I might if I spot them, but I'm not 100% paying attention to those.

Whereas @Sphinx genuinely wouldn't know if he made a mistake, so I'm willing to help him out there whenever I see that.

@trinsec

>"The mere fact you know your posts have grammatical errors isn't making me jump up fast to correct you."

The errors are genuine. I usually find them after I post, or when I proof the toot before posting. Plus I'm sure there are many more that I don't catch or that involve rules that I'm completely unaware of.

@Sphinx

@Pat Alrighty then, I'll keep an eye out to yours as well and inform you whenever I spot them.

@Sphinx

@trinsec

May I ask how you learn English when you grow up and also now?

Does school teach English in the NL?😊
