And you are quite right too. Albeit, in my humble opinion, the definition that you mention is what I grew up believing too. Today, however, I find myself believing that that definition no longer describes those in the current era who send identify as Liberals.
To me, today's Liberals seem to be radicals who believe it's only their way. They would go to any length to ensure that differing opinions are firmly shut out of public & private discourse.

I find it difficult to identify myself with this modern definition of Liberalism.

Let's see how it works in practice coz I get the feeling that most of us in the larger open space appreciate the good wherever it is while those in self identified right, left or esoteric spaces find it difficult to acknowledge the good in the other "sides"

Must confess: I am not a Liberal! I believe in people and I believe in doing what's right. I believe people know wants best for them and no one need tell anyone else how to lead their life, what to say, how to behave.
