How to verify accounts

I am trying to verify my Mastodon account, but this isn't working, I have included the verification link on my personal blog (writeAs powered) and also on my Diode.zone account and there are links from here (qoto) to both of those.

It seems that WriteAs is stripping the Rel="me" part out and replacing with nofollow. But I am just pasting the html directly.

How have other people achieved this,? I think the process needs to be really quick and simple, but also robust enough to avoid abuse.

If the Fediverse is to grow this could be essential for getting more high profile people or even business, charities on here.

Thanks for any help, if people could share how have done this successfully ( as quite a few have the green tick) then it helps others do the same, .

Hopefully raise the profile of the Fediverse in general

This post should now be public

@zleap

Wonderful, but you should tag gargron too, would you like me to tag him into this?

@freemo

So... What can I do for you? My verification on my website has the ref attribute, I manually added. But I tried twitter, it dosent support ref attribute, so just my website link is verified.

@skyblond

Nothing sorry, I linked you earlier when the problem was still a bit of a mystery, figured you did something special. Now that we figured out it is stripping only Gargron could help potentially, or if someone out there knows a work around in general.

@zleap

@freemo @skyblond I can ask on the WriteAs forum about this, but on My blog I would add

[linktext](url link) to add a link somewhere, is there a way to add rel="me" in to that using markdown ?

I just copied in the html from my profile on here.so maybe I need to add proper markdown tag.

@zleap

Standard markdown nor all of the flavors of markdown I know support this. However some do support inserting HTML directly, which is the way you'd usually go about it (but as you saw has its own issues).

It is possible the WriteAs forum has a custom version of markdown that supports it somehow, but I doubt it.

My guess is that WriteAs simply wont support what you are trying to do.

@skyblond

@zleap

My website use markdown too. But this may changed with different implementations. I use typecho, a lightweight replacement of wordpress. It can identify and show the a tag containing the ref attribute as I pasted.

@skyblond @freemo
I have raised this on the WriteAs forum
discuss.write.as/t/mastodon-ve

my point at the ends is asking more if this is a bug given that WriteAs uses Activity pub

@zleap

It would not be considered a bug or even related to activity pub in anyway.
