The Commission should anticipate that Meta will meet the test of systematic non-compliance in DMA Article 18(3). In view of the seriousness of the circumstances, the Commission should be fully prepared to use its powers to impose structural remedies at the earliest opportunity.
There was a time when Big Tech benefitted from the gap between data protection and competition enforcement. That gap is narrowing. The two areas of law may become a vice.

I will give big points to the first news organization, big or small, that:
* Sets up an instance for its newsroom,
* Sets up an instance for the community it serves,
* Enables rel=me for staff,
* Creates a boost-on-Mastodon sharing function,
* Enhances that function so headlines/images (with alt-text) appear in the toot,
* Covers the Fediverse as more than a geeky curiosity or alt-Twitter,
* Listens to and joins in the conversation here.
Or post jobs and say former / current twitter engineers welcome.
@photodavid78 Some really nice photos on there, great stuff, well worth a look.

Sounds good, I wonder how long it will take for the UK to come out of the dark ages and officially join the fediverse.
@johanbove #Europe has one, I believe #Germany and others plan on making their own as well
Official #Europe instance: social.network.europa.eu
Unofficial #Europe instance: respublicae.eu

I am not sure what is wrong with the image shown but thankfully here we don't have to put up with nonsense such as this.

I didn't take this photo but I was with my husband when he did. It was breathtaking up on Stenbury Down on the Isle of Wight, watching the mist roll in at sunset. The sheep were surprised to see us and for once the weather did what we'd hoped it would do! #SheepofMastodon
@davetroy Great advice
A few recommendations for life on Mastodon:
1) Follow anyone you think looks potentially interesting; you can always unfollow later, and they may lead you to new people via boosted posts.
2) Boost posts you think are worthy, so others can discover new content.
3) Don't obsess on replicating your Twitter follows on Mastodon; let it be its own experience, and grow it organically. Obvs follow anyone you miss from Twitter, but this isn't a 1:1 replacement; have fun, follow your instincts.
I wonder if we can share that joke at EmacsConf lol
Hi everyone, time for an #Introduction: I'm a weather and climate scientist working at the #ECMWF office in Bonn, Germany.
My research is concerned with improving subseasonal-to-seasonal forecasts and climate reanalyses through better observations and modelling of the ocean and sea ice.
Looking forward to talking about science and maybe other topics on here 👋
