My favorite part about the modern web is that everything is endlessly connected. I can ssh into my vps > raspberry pi > full home network from almost any device.

Everything has a terminal and everything can run or at least emulate Linux.

Need some sort of odd web service? Just spin up a tiny docker, it'll work.

@feld

You all could very easily put a public facing message on the github or elsewhere that says something to the effect of

"Unfortunately a lot of racists use our software, our development community abhors racism and the software we make is specifically not for racists. Using Pleroma for bigotry is against the founding ideas of this development project"

But yall are too cowardly to do that maybe?

@Are0h

It's cool that @Gargron is rejecting funding from VC firms.

But this is all the more reason why Mastodon needs donations.

And not just Mastodon—everyone who's building free and open source Fediverse apps.

If security and privacy are your main concern in a cloud storage app, Proton Drive is the best choice. But that peace of mind comes at a price. My full review:

Nichelle Nichols, forever Lt. Uhura on Star Trek, was born on this date in 1932. In addition to acting, she was also a fierce supporter of NASA and encouraged diversity in NASA's programs. #NichelleNichols #Uhura #StarTrek

@jmb I think you probably get the same bad experience talking to some politicians too.

I want to take a moment to brag on the #Jewish Mastodon community (aka, #Mazeldon )

I've had the chance to participate in several discussions on very touchy topics over the last couple of weeks (including about issues related to #Israel/#Palestine) and I've been very pleasantly surprised by the quality and civility of conversation, even when those having the discussion have very different perspectives.

It's not perfect, but compared to #Birdsite or FB, this is a breath of fresh air.

@fasnix Hopefully Facebook, Microsoft and any big tech company

It stinks of desperation and is a little bit creepy to send unsolicited “spam chocolate” to my home address, @openuk.
I will be putting in a GDPR complaint — I have not given you my home address to receive unsolicited mail…

apt remove - removes the software packages

apt purge also does this but also removes configuration files.

@zleap @avedik You're right, Wikipedia is not really a source at all and one should always look at the references there instead of just accepting whatever is written but it does still matter what is there. Not everyone is going to check sources and Google for example displays parts of Wikipedia articles when you search for something that has one.

Thankfully Wikipedia should be reasonably to correct too but it becomes easier if you can point to quality sources.
