Yes, the wonderful EU, free trade, free movement good laws such as GDPR and bad stuff like this. You can't have one without the other.
The proposed EU law Chat Control will not only create a centralized mass surveillance system and violate people's privacy. It will also ban open source operating systems as an unintended consequence.
If and when this law goes into effect it would make illegal the open source software services underpinning the majority of services and infrastructure on the internet.

Agreed, we really do need to figure out what we mean by colonise as many people here will refer to what White Europeans mean by that, and to a point White Americans if we look at Native American genocide, slavery and racism.
Or in terms of Musk / Bezos, exploitation of workers

I am all for exploring, setting up bases to help with research but beyond that we need to be careful.
@zleap Thanks for the recommendation and the boost, Paul!
No problem.
Bill Gates would rather pay for vaccines than travel to Mars

I am writing an article on my website about this, but focus more on the statements about colonising mars and ask what that means in terms of the fact both Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk want to do this, trying to examine their track record in business given the exploitation and general treatment of workers. Are they the best people to do this, and given history of White Europeans, what exactly do we mean by colonise.
You probably want to set up your own clubs where people can get together and just build with components, build addons to raspberry pis, experiment with arduino etc. There is a repair cafe type movement too, so link up with them.
We are going to try and do the latter at the STEM group I run, partly as we were also given a huge stack of components so they could benefit from access to those too.
Schools don't always have the funds or expertise to teach stuff that is way beyond the curriculum, aiming at adults is usually better, parents can bring their kids of course, unless you want to also be looking after kids as well as doing your own projects.

Dead on there. Also, the evident and genuine camaraderie, respect, and friendship amongst the people who worked together on Bordello and Crypt. Their support for one another and commitment to their work product— despite all the nonsense thrown their way— was heartening and admirable. More so, given the industry they work in.
Twitter just announced free access to the Twitter API will end on February 9, with unannounced pricing or usage details, effectively killing every free fun and useful thing ever built with it: bots, games, mashups, visualizations, research projects, autoposters, autoblockers, deleters, and so much more. https://twitter.com/twitterdev/status/1621026986784337922

That looks like the scene from The trouble with tribbles, when kirk is trying to find out who started the fight on k7 with the Klingons.
