Gordon Brown says Britain can only “build back better” by “working ever more closely with the EU” and calls for a global "economic coalition of the willing... to coordinate economic policies across continents if we are to safeguard jobs and living standards.” ~AA

@revjss If you manage to replace trump in 2029 with a sane president, the frst exec order should be to deport Trump, Vance, Musk et al, along with a large number of the loudest maga supporters to El Salvador.
It may then send a message that what has happened must NEVER EVER be allowed to happen again.
Nice, great work
Surely anyone with common sense would say the same thing, could we find a way so only those with common sense run prisons.

There does seem to be momentum now for the EU to start building it's own infrastructures, from cloud services, AI services, Defense, and many other areas. I think that momentum will gather further pace, as more companies start to find ways to reduce the impact of US policies. The current trade war is one example of how vulnerable we are, this seems to have distracted trump from Greenland and Ukraine / Russia (I guess he can't cope with more than one project at the same time).
So what can people do to help promote all this, Matrix is starting to gain ground, I would like to see conversations open up in those forums that last beyond a few words being exchanged. To some extend the Fediverse is also gaining enough groud to start to worry big tech.
One of our strenghts is we have the ability to collaborate, to what extent can be truly move away from the USA, and do we need to, I guess due to the nature of Fedi, individually owned instances are safe, but what about where they are hosted and to what extend would those hosting companies have to comply with federal orders (or is this getting too complex?)
Are they really doing this on their own accord or being bullied in to this by the Trump administration?
As I have suggested before
If you are paid 100k a year to do a job, and you get AI to do 95 percent of it, then you should be paid for the work YOU do, so in this case 5% of 100k a year is 5k a year.
Controversial, and probably a silly idea BUT as soon as corporate bosses get this idea they will probably implement it, of course if that 5% can be done with less qualifications then you may find your self being replaced at some point with someone who is far less qualified.
Food for thought, here, companies look to SAVE money.

In a PhD exam about atmospheric chemistry three weeks ago ,I asked the candidate what would happen if the US stopped collecting the data of the kind she had used in her thesis. A good discussion followed. Now here it is.
