Pro-nuclear opinion
@Naughtylus I think they have made wind turbines more recyclable, not that this helps all the turbines that are in operation.
@passis Boosting to help spread the word, Mastodon is really starting to come in to it's own in terms of equality and diversity, great stuff.
I've collected some #Mastodon 🦣 #instances to help with the #TwitterMigration focused in #inclusion, #accesibility and #minorities. They look like safe spaces for most of us. I'd appreciate the boost and new recommendations to add to the list:
🔗🇬🇧 https://ableism.rip/about - space to fight ableism
🔗🇬🇧 https://disabled.social/about - for disabled people
🔗🇬🇧 https://neurodifferent.me/about - neurodiversity and neurominorities
🔗🇬🇧 https://iaccessibility.social/about - interest in assistive technology
🔗🇬🇧 https://blacktwitter.io/about - history and voices for black people
🔗🇬🇧 https://lgbt.io/about - for LGBT+ and allies
🔗🇬🇧 http://queer.party/about - queer-oriented instance
🔗🇬🇧 https://tech.lgbt/about - for tech workers, academics, students, and others interested in tech who are LGBTQIA+ or Allies
Please boost to reach more people!
@adamjcook @skrishna Agreed, great that the two telescopes can also complement each other and people can easily see the difference. Makes the costs involved easier to understand for the general public who fund these programmes through taxes.
Hopefully also inspires people to study Science and Astronomy too of course..
@skrishna I love these comparisons and detailed explanations. Thank you!
Comet C/2020 F3 "NEOWISE" reflected in Emerald Bay, Lake Tahoe, California (7/10/2020).
This is a single frame. There was moon light illuminating Fannette Island and the bay. I did a little dodging and burning and color grading in #darktable running on a Linux box.

You can really see areas of active star formation in this latest #JWST image (as opposed to the #Hubble image — I do a side by side comparison!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4PZ7fFJ-J8
@fsf Thanks for the reminder, just made a blog post.
Here's an interesting question: Can you attend this weekend's #EmacsConf with GNU #Emacs itself? Be sure to attend these great presentations December 3 and 4: https://emacsconf.org/2022/talks/ And if you connect via Emacs, let us know!

"An incredibly bright flash that appeared in the night sky in February was the result of a star straying too close to a supermassive black hole, meeting its untimely end there as it was ripped to shreds."

Just close your eyes for a while and focus on anything that makes you smile. Listen to your favorite song. Think about someone who makes you laugh. Shut everything else out.
It gets better. Just believe that.

Hmm not, I even Helium is getting expensive,
The Gays

@Physicist Given we usually only change 1 factor in science when repeating experiments, maybe that is the next step.
Unless Krypton is more expensive ?
@Nick We have something similar to that on Dartmoor, Devon.
Before he was an astronaut, Neil Armstrong was a @nasa test pilot, testing research planes including the X-15. Milt Thompson called him "the most technically capable of the early X-15 pilots." On the last of his 7 X-15 flights in July 1962 he reached Mach 5.74.

Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE)
IIRC they used to use dry ice to detect the Neutrinos but then moved to liquid argon (or other noble gas as a liquid) to try and detect. The neutrinos caused flashes, which I would assume is due to the interactions causing electrons to jump energy level. (not sure though)
I understand that.
