@glynmoody Can that apply to LinkedIn too, I am fed up of spam from Meta / Microsoft advertising their garbage.
big: #Meta's business model declared illegal in the EU according to WSJ. #Facebook, #Instagram and #WhatsApp can no longer run personalized ads without user consent - https://noyb.eu/en/noyb-win-personalized-ads-facebook-instagram-and-whatsapp-declared-illegal micro-targeted ads out, no more RTB. Meta will appeal of course, so only provisional... #privacy
Researchers say space atomic clocks could help uncover the nature of dark matter
https://www.ipmu.jp/en/20221206-quantumsensors
"Studying an atomic clock on-board a spacecraft inside the orbit of Mercury and very near to the Sun might be the trick to uncovering the nature of dark matter, suggests a new study published in Nature Astronomy."
Good idea, thanks for this.
Some word documents can be complex, especially application forms, for the most part as long as there is nothing sensitive in there you can ask @libreoffice and send them a copy of the document and this helps improve interoperability and import or they can at least see where the issues are.
Great to be able to get involved in that way.
@BrideOfLinux I have access to a big blue button server, so can use that, works great and others have no problem connecting.
Just wish we could make that more mainstream so more people know about it.

The fediverse doesn’t need to win over anything else. It does not need to challenge, threaten, or dominate any other community or service. All it needs to do is serve its existing members and be a good place for new people to join. Becoming a safer space is much more likely to contribute to its longevity than ‘winning’ mass adoption from ex-Twitter users in the short term.

On the one hand this is funny, but it is also deadly serious and really not good, however please can MSN carry on with this, so that we can send MSN to the tech graveyard, to join twitter.
Microsoft replaced human editors with AI and now MSN (which reaches a billion readers per month) is churning out fake news and bogus stories about mermaids and bigfoot. https://futurism.com/msn-is-publishing-more-fake-news
If I absolutely have to use Teams, I'll do through a browser, but I'll never install it on one of my Linux machines: How to Install Microsoft Teams in Ubuntu, Fedora, and Other Linux https://www.debugpoint.com/how-to-install-microsoft-teams-in-ubuntu-linux-and-fedora/
Same here, last time i had to install it, it was for an interview, that then got cancelled, looking at the cookie manager on firefox it dumped a huge (about 35mb) cookie on my computer.
A really good reason not to use it.
I guess it depends on the type of document you are writing and the type of content within.

@katiemac So long as we have the current home secretary or even government we will just bounce aimlessly from one idea to another with no actual plan to address the wider issues.
You can't tell me we don't know who these people traffickers are or that there is a 'lack' of evidence to be able to prosecute them if they are breaking laws.

UNHCR notes with concern the proposals presented in a report issued today by the Centre for Policy Studies on UK asylum reform.
It contains critical factual and legal errors regarding the international legal status of refugees and asylum-seekers. More: https://www.unhcr.org/uk/news/press/2022/12/638da3344/unhcr-news-comment-on-uk-asylum-reform-proposals.html
