Maybe, just maybe, we should start honouring the Scots who actively tried to make Scotland a better place, rather than a bunch of rich-entitled aristocrat fossils like Buchanan!
Whether it's politics with the likes of Margo MacDonald, Donald Dewer or Thomas Muir; altruism with Sean Connery or Vivienne Westwood; or heroism like Jackie Crookstone, Mary Blake or John Smeaton.
There's plenty of statues and street names needing replaced, and there's many a better qualified Scot to choose from 🏴

We don't need alcohol to enjoy ourselves, I think ther Qatar world cup proved that, even people attending commented on the different atmosphere created.
Perhaps the drinks industry, like big tech and gambling needs to be consigned to the dustbin of history, This doesn't mean no drinks or gambling, we just change our relationship with these.

SOcial media companies won't bother doing anything about this, we need to change attitudes towards how we look.

We say this every year. I think there is a chance that 2023 could be the #YearOfTheFediverse at the very least.

As promised, we wrote an article about the #fediverse and decentralization of the Internet. tl;dr -> The prospect of returning the Internet to its decentralized roots are brighter than they have been in a long time. With lots of links to dig deeper. 🧵

@rbreich Strikes work, but so would getting off corporate social media and moving to the Fediverse as it would deny bit tech an income.
As long as we are also prepared to stand up and defend against any attempt by big tech or corporates to impose their will on the Fediverse tool.
@RosyCAdams I don't speak Welsh, but happy to boost content.
What do you think about the Welsh language being taught via Tik Tok ?

Apologies for any mistakes. I'm actually learning for the second time. I have a Welsh GCSE but I grew up around Brecon and no-one I knew actually spoke it. I want to be able to write creatively yn Gymraeg as well as in English, even if it takes me a long time to get there. This is my new year's resolution: I'll post something yn Gymraeg every day in 2023. Wish me luck!
Rather brilliant from The Register on the constant nagging that makes up so much of the modern computing experience. Marred only slightly by their non-compliant cookie notice ;-)

I DON'T WANT SELF DRIVING CARS!!!!
✔️ I want boring things like public transit that comes so regularly I don't need to check a schedule.
✔️ I want fast passenger rail so accessible and easy it's preferable to suffering airports.
✔️ I want cities that aren't built around cars-as-default
✔️ I want the country to own it.
expect wobbly uptime on libreboot.org today, or at least the next few hours from now, 12:08 UK time, 1 January 2023:
I'm messing with routing tables, on the L2TP tunnel router that hosts libreboot.org
I'm experimenting with redundant internet for libreboot.org. I'm making it so that it reliably re-routes all traffic via another internet, when the main one goes down.
