Appareny children in the UK think they get more education from TikTok than from school. Makes one wonder what they are learning at school and on Tik Tok.

If the UK civil servants who work in Job centres are striking over pay, the irony is that they expect Universal credit claimants to take jobs at the lowest wage. If the National living wage is good enough for those claiming UC, then it is good enough for these civil servants, the truth is, Living wage is not enough for a lot of people, couple that with low number of hours or zero hour contracts and workers are just struggling.

Yes, IIRC i read somewhere that there is a lot of oestrogen mimicking chemicals in the environment.

Sounds interesting, so from this I would guess it would look at a string such as

The cat sat on the mat., or The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. From these generate a hash, is this similar to how say md5sum works, as I could write one of the above in a text file, save and generate a md5sum from that, this would be unqie, if you want back in and changed a lower case letter to upper case, or added a comma, it would change the file, and the md5sum would be different. We could then compare the two checksums to see if they match or don't match.

Or am I completely off track here. Given I am not remotely an expert in this.

@zleap @ben normally it matches literal strings. e.g. “these two sentences came from this source”

@mxtthxw

surely distilled water is simply heated to steam then condensed back,

Don't people do this to purify water if out camping for example.

Days later, Twitter is still blocking links to the BBC documentary about Modi and Musk has yet to say anything about the censorship other than that he didn't know about it. That was 6 days ago. kenklippenstein.substack.com/p

If it's anything like NYC if you want to have a good classroom library you build it yourself. Sometimes you can get the school to buy the books, but just as often they just slowly collect as you find things you know your students will like or might need.

I have a fairly big math library. That's also becoming an electronics library.

Lots of cool stuff you can't find online.

Point is these collections take years and years to build and represent a huge investment from teachers.

@VPS_Reports@kolektiva.social This is someone that brainless idiot Nick Clegg considers suitable to let back on to Facebook / Instagram.

How does plagiarism detection software work normally?

I agree, we can't do much from the UK, the BIGGEST thing we can do is make sure people know about this, thankfully there are updates here on fedi, so boosting is essential. I can add or embed posts in to my blog and hopefully people will read and take note as to what is happening.

Good morning, the empty bookshelves in Florida schools keep my head busy, since I'm a teacher with a library in my classroom in Berlin myself. That's a history lesson in front of our very eyes and exactly how fascism started in Germany. Books were banned and then burnt and everyone said, well, I can't do anything, I don't want to loose my job, I don't like it, but... Many little steps were made by many little people who didn't stand up against a new little rule. You know how this ends.

"The Russian war of aggression against Ukraine is a fundamental attack on the peace and security architecture in Europe.

So, we urgently need to strengthen our common Foreign and Security Policy in the European Union", says @davidmcallister MEP.

Given this is Caesium, should I be more worried about the radioactivity or if this gets exposed to water, moisture or otherwise.

I was planning to procrastinate today but never got around to it

Because police don't solve crimes the way that TV shows pretend they do. Most serious crimes, especially murders, are solved by:

1) someone calls the cops (caller)
2) someone tells the cops exactly what happened (witness)
3) cops gather enough evidence to show that the witness's story is credible
4) DA builds a case

Without callers or witnesses, it's almost impossible to even know who committed a murder, let alone get a conviction in court. And Black folk don't call or play witness.

I dunno, maybe social media is just a bad indicator of real public opinion
