I may sound like an idealist, but I hope that we can all pressure organizations into creating their own instances.
This is a dramatic change from how social media was previously done.
But ultimately, it's better for the future of social media.

The reason social media becomes awful when organizations join is because the people who work for them (for often legitimate reasons) want to hide the fiction of a corporation.
So they create accounts for brands.
Guess what? People don't want to talk to brands. They want to talk to people.
Therefore, brands have to do the impossible: they must convince others that they're *real people* -- even though the real people running the brands are hiding behind the facade of a corporate identity.

step2 we need to look in to why black people are reporting problems getting papers published or can't access funding, This needs to be addressed in full, it may be painful, but this has to happen so we can attract a diverse group of people in to research.
I have tagged Jaden2 in to this has he is far better qualified to comment on racism and barriers faced by the black and minority communities.

To a small business sa an employee you are a valuable member of the team and business. To big tech companies, as an employee, you are probably just a payroll number, nothing else, expendable and can be thrown away like a unwanted object as soon as there is any bump in the industry. Profits are more important than you are.

I'm not kidding. If you sell your Honda Civic hatchback on Craigslist for cash, cops can take that. If you cash your paycheck, cops can take that. You would need a lawyer that you can't afford, just to get your own money back. Cops stole more stuff from citizens in 2015, than all burglaries in the US combined.
So the 2 forms of theft with mostly Black victims, that make up the vast majority of theft, are not even considered crimes.
Our definition of theft is arbitrary.
I remember being in Toronto at the Linuxcaffe, there were a few other people there and I seem to remember drawing this table from memory, which was really helpful for the person who asked about permissions.
The church needs to be remindered about their own history of sexual abuse, it seems to be when it comes down to relationsips of a sexual nature between paedo church members and children, the church covered this up massively. The documentary spotlight from 2001 exposed this, paedophiles accused where moved to another diocese to carry on their sick abuse, some were promoted to the Vatican as cardinals.
The church is NEVER going to be able to get out of this, saying sorry isn't good enough, they can't cancel that part of their history and should NEVER be allowed to.
So sexual relationships between 2 men or 2 women, a huge no no for the church, sexual relationships between make priests and children gets covered up and allowed to carry on.
The church is not in a position to lecture the rest of us on morality and ethical behaviour.

English should become a second official language at administrative offices in Germany, one of the country’s governing parties has argued, saying unwieldy bureaucratic German is proving too much of a deterrent for much-needed skilled workers from abroad.
