Slowly bringing more Wikipedians to fedi (hence all the boosted introductions!) — they're all pretty cool so go say hi :blobfoxcoffeemlem:

More than 100 Palestinian journalists and cameramen have been killed in Gaza in less than three months. Journalists are classed as civilians by the Geneva Conventions and are to be protected in times of war. The Israeli state and it's military are deliberately targeting journalists in Gaza and the killing is being enabled by Israel's allies.

@MadeyeTheCarnaptious

Agreed, history will once again judge us as doing nothing,

@mastodonmigration
No idea what substack is, if they are openly hosting Nazi content they are clearly not relevant or should not be part of a civil society anyway. Lets move along and focus on those who do the 'right thing'.

@br00t4c e

What does Narc mean? Clearly not a good thing. All this does is show how backwards parts of the USA are. You can't Make America Great Again without treating everyone equally, respectfully and decently. Do that and American will be a great country.

@verdantsquare

Is there not a danger that constant speculation of recession, spooks people enough to stop spending or investing and actually causes the recession.

Activists call for a global day of action on January 13 to demand a ceasefire in Gaza.

Israel's military today published a video showing the bombardment of an entire block in Al Rimal neighborhood in western Gaza.

The targeted civilian area includes a rehabilitation hospital as well as other institutions, including the civil registry of Gaza.

Trump's presidency was -- by far -- the most corrupt in at least a century. If he gets back in, the corruption will be infinitely worse. We'll be living in what is accurately called a dictatorial "Mafia state".

This isn't speculation. It's simple reality.

I should note that not even one journalism organization even attempted to keep detailed track of the breadth and depth of the corruption in Trump's circle.

Why expect better now?

@europesays

Comparing Trump to Hitler is one thing, looking at what happened under hitler and stopping iti happening again is going to require us to really DO something to ensure there is no repeat of history.

Given that trump wants to eliminate his enemies, it is pretty scary what order he may sign to take revenge.

We have one chance to stop trump and ensure people understand why he needs to be stopped. I have little faith anything will be done, though, or we would have done so.

New measurements show that about 10% of the aerosol particles in the stratosphere contain aluminium and other metals that originated from satellite re-entry, but their environmental impacts are not well understood.

Next month our Panel on Potentially Environmentally Detrimental Activities in Space (PEDAS) will be represented at the workshop to explore this issue at the ESA’s ESTEC facility. Do you have relevant expertise? Register to attend by 23 December: indico.esa.int/event/493/

@COSPAR

This sounds interesting so will be good to see what comes from this. I am not an expert so can't submit a paper but would be good to learn more.

@fkamiah17

This will just make even more countries the enemy of the USA. We need to find a solution to the very long standing issues in the region generally. The US is not remotely helping matters by blocking resolutions that will save lives on BOTH sides.

@withaveeay @nixCraft

Check the fans and vents, you may be able to put laptop on a stand that allows air flow.

@airadam

I agree, you only need to look at the UK post office scandle to understand computer systems make errrors or rather have faults in the system that produce errors, which lead to serious consequences.a\

@Barrikoi1 I have donated to the MSF in the past. I should again. I have a good friend who worked with them in Africa for a long time. Incredible people work for that organization (including her). Thank you for supporting them.

Adblockers are legal, German courts ruled. Their argument: users not only have the right to receive information but also to refuse it.
That sounds about right. It'd be positively dystopian if companies can claim the right to force-feed information. A win for internet user freedom :).
One of the downsides of the ruling is that a company can exclude users with an activated adblocker from accessing its website.
@fsfe wrote an interesting article about the case
