Indeed, but if they can do that in the courts, rather than yet more senseless bloodshed of civilians, it would be better. In some ways if you sign up to the Army you expect to go to war and know you may die, you kinda sign up to that. Civilians do not sign up to the risk of being blown up, when international law has banned actions that put them in the firing line. The IDF can identify a target and building and send in special forces to take that person (or persons out) like the Seals did with Bin Laden. There is no legal justification to bomb a whole building.

Isreal has already used the current situation in Syria to sieze land, I just hope that rather than using violence these neighbours can use the courts to bring israel to justice. Saying that if it was not for the fact Israel attacked Lebonon and weakened Hezbollah, the situation in Syria would have remained the same as before.

Two years ago, @micahflee got banned from Twitter (and later X) for posting a link to a Mastodon account that tracked Elon Musk's private jet.

Now, in the midst of an exodus from X, he's launched a tool to archive and delete your X account so you can escape, too. wired.com/story/x-delete-posts

Well his plan with his buddy Assad has gone down the pan, so this makes sense.

@bretcarmichael

What would happen if they summoned the CEO instead, and held her accountable ?

framework laptop stuff

I should really acknowledge that I'm extremely privileged to have a decent research computer grant that I needed to use, that was the whole reason I was able to afford this fancy-pants laptop. It continues to be great! I've gotten almost all the software I need installed on it, no major hiccups yet.

My old laptop still has some life left in it, and will get used by undergrad research students, and I hope this Framework one lasts me well over a decade.

Putting Asylum seekers aside, Immigration is needed to bring in the skills a country needds, while it can be argued a supermarket can find people locally to do the job of say shelf stacking when it comes to highly skilled work such as engineering, science and medicine (to name a few) the pool of skills is clearly much smaller. A company may employ an engineer from the UK to enhance their existing skills base. IIRC a small company in somerset UK provided the parachute for the latest mars rover, so that must at some point have required someone from the UK to work with the teams in the US (and elsewhere) on a visa.

So I hope that Trump has factored in, if you kick out the people with these specailist skills, you reduce competitiveness, but we also live in a global world where companies share expertise across international borders, it also helps improve cultural awareness and cohesion.

This is not for me, but does sound interesting, I will boost for reach, best of luck to those taking part.

Deadline is 13 December for early-career researchers to apply for a funded place at our 'Mechanometabolism Unleashed: The Interface of Cell Mechanics and Metabolism' Workshop organised by Marco Foiani, Ana-Maria Lennon-Duménil, Victoria Sanz-Moreno & Giorgio Scita. I will check out properly later, at first glance seems there are technical issues re life support.

In December 1917.

The first of many editions of Robert Baden-Powell's The Wolf Cub's Handbook is published.

The Wolf Cub's Handbook, in various editions, remained The Boy Scouts Association's official handbook for Wolf Cubs until The Chief Scout's Advance Party Report of 1966 recommended that less emphasis be placed on the Jungle Book theme and renamed its Wolf Cubs program as Cubs.
