Imperceptibly, over the last month or so Mastodon has gone from a niche place where I feel like I'm shouting into a void, to a social place where interesting and varied things are being posted in a live stream and random posts of mine actually get a react or two.

I know it's highly personalized but this feels like Twitter circa 2007. Which means we gotta get real serious real quick about moderation/spam/abuse/discovery/curation tooling.

It's good to see real talk of the future we need to move towards in electic vehicles. It's absolutely required.

At the very beginning of the coronavirus outbreak, scientists weren’t sure how it was transmitted and medical workers needed the limited supply of masks. Once scientists learned that it was airborne and also could be spread from symptom-free individuals, they told us to mask up.

Now we have strains that are transmitted much more easily and now we are being told to wear double masks in certain situations. If you continue to listen to the scientists, you will get transparency and accurate information. As knowledge grows and the virus changes, we need to adapt to the changing environment.

If the tweeter-in-chief had been transparent and given out accurate information from the beginning, we would be in a much better state than we are today.

Keep listening to the scientists.

Decided I'm going to go back to my old hobby of buying "broken" #thinkpad on Ebay, refurbishing them and reselling them (usually at no profit). This gets affordable computers into the hands of people who need them, prevents landfill, and I get to do something other than work.

Google has suspended Element (@matrix) from the Play Store for "Sexual Content and Profanity". Basically same story as with Subway Tooter a while back. Element is to Matrix as Chrome is to the web. Curiously, Chrome is still on the Play Store.
