BREAKING (no pun intended)

*Roughly an hour after Falcon 9 lifted off from the Vandenberg Space Force Base in California on Thursday night, the rocket's second stage failed to reignite and deployed its 20 Starlink satellites on a shallow orbital path where they will soon reenter and burn up in Earth's atmosphere.*

Not sure whether to laugh or cry.
I think I'll cry for our atmosphere first.

I'll laugh when the environmental orgs bring the lawsuits.

Calls for a bank holiday if England the Euro cup on Sunday seem short sighted. A bank holiday for who? Hospitals need to remaiin open, so staff can't 'just' take a day off, schools need to remain open so people who work in Hospitals in this case can work, while their kids are at school.

Schools also need to Teach a curriculum, even near the end of term there is work to be finished off for example.

Another thing about schools is they are or should be a safe place, given the reports of domestic violence incidents increasing during football competitions, and drinking also increaes it could put kids at risk of harm.

School holiday dates are known so holiday clubs are open during school holidays.

Not JUST hospitals but Police, council services and a whole host of places need to carry on.

From the no shit sherlock school of research. Being poor is exhausting and debilitating. It's amazing the difference even small amounts of money can have on someone's mental health.

So of course, having enough money to be able to put a small amount of it aside is going to make you feel a lot better than being worried that you might not be able to afford food this week.

Poverty costs the UK £78Bn a year. Maybe we should use some of that to lift people out of poverty

I am NOT associated with this, however Eat That Frog are offering drop in sessions to give people help and advice on digital skills etc.

I am not sure if their advice will include anything to do with the fediverse or FOSS but would be interesting if people have time, drop in and ask. They do claim to be able to help with anything.

The more people who ask about the Fediverse and FOSS it gets on their radar and will start to be taken more seriosuly.

The argument "no one uses the Fediverse" is also no longer valid.

For the few weeks that it was around on #Threads, every single one of the account’s posts was bombarded with insults, death threats, and literal nazi imagery. Day after day I spent hours trying to report every single one of them. Not only did the swastikas stay up and reappear faster than I could report them but every single one of my reports was also met with a cold, disturbing, automated message from Instagram in my email inbox telling me that “No violation was found”.
