The safer you are in an environment of rising authoritarianism, the more obligation you have to make some noise on behalf of the people who are more vulnerable than you. Indeed, this is the only way you might avoid having the leopards eat your face.

THE UK Government's Education Secretary has suggested cutting school spending by £500 million and ending universal free meals for infants in England ahead of the Spring Statement.

Bridget Phillipson has also offered to axe funding for free period products in schools as well as dance, music and PE schemes as part of potential savings.

So the Labour Government are considering cutting the taxes paid by Amazon and Meta to benefit rich American billionaires while they savagely cut benefits for the disabled & long term sick, plus scrapping the winter fuel allowance. So their message is we can afford to boost the income of the super rich while making the vulnerable poor. Shame on every Labour MP who voted to support this

🥀UK Labour: cut free school meals.
💚Scottish Greens: expand free school meals.

Looks like we now have an ideal and rare opportunity to promote the fedi as both free as in freedom, free as in cost, free as in no ads, and free as in no tracking.

I can try and link here

jointhefediverse.net/join?lang

to give people info, asuming that the site stays up of course.

It looks like fediverse.to/ is STILL DOWN, how are people meant to attract people to, and promote the fediverse if the very sites with easy information don't work properly.

I am trying to raise awareness of alternatives / replacements and this really does not help.

Hello, world!

We're Mission:Libre, a new project for teens that love free software!

We aim to get teens excited about software freedom and help them learn skills they'll need as they become tomorrow's free software contributors and activists.

We'll be spreading the word about free software to young people, building supportive communities where teens can explore technology with others, helping young people defend their right to use free software and encouraging them to take their interests further in higher education.

You can learn more and help us achieve our goal to raise $48,500 at https://missionlibre.org
