Every time in the history of the U.S. that increases in the minimum wage have been proposed, the argument is offered that it will hurt small businesses. This has never happened. Small businesses are service businesses and will continue to be essential.

Corporate profits, on the other hand, are at an all-time high and the US possess extreme levels of income inequality.

Putting more money into the hands of the people who spend it and reducing income inequality does nothing but help all people.

This is the correct headline, as only 11 Republicans voted to strip a reckless conspiracy theorist from her committee assignments.

199 voted not to hold her accountable at all, which is equivalent to direct approval. It tells you everything you need to know about the current Republican party, which I still maintain should come to a disgraced end.

My mother-in-law lives 17 miles away, in a northern exurb of Dallas. The non-slow routes all involve tolls. Each round trip is $5.82 of tolls and my wife does multiple trips a week to help out her mum.

We are lucky and can afford it, but others can't. The poor can't afford to get to work and family in reasonable convenience. This is what happens in a state that likes low taxes and 'public private partnerships'. You end up paying private companies, or if you can't, you just have to suffer.
