Dr McCollum said she used to frequently travel via Embankment and loved hearing her husband's voice, even when he was alive.

"Since he died I would sit and wait for the next train until I heard his voice.

"On 1 November he wasn't there. I was just stunned when Oswald wasn't there anymore.

"We were very touched by her story, so staff tracked down the recording and not only were they able to get a copy of the announcement on CD for her to keep but are also working to restore the announcement at Embankment station."

NASA's James Webb Space Telescope – Official Mission Trailer

We don’t yet know what the James Webb Space Telescope will uncover. Will we get answers? Will we have more questions? One thing’s certain: The story of us is a never-ending quest for knowledge.

As Carl Sagan said:

“We can’t help it.”

If you do not allow referencing slavery in fiction, how do you then know slavery is wrong? How do you even argue against it? This is an unbelievably stupid thing to do :comfyuee:

Good morning from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

Rain showers are moving away from the spaceport, but a low cloud ceiling remains as SpaceX hopes for favorable weather for launch of a Falcon 9 rocket & Dragon cargo ship at 5:07am EST (1007 GMT).

Conny Duck is probably best known on the Fediverse as lead developer of the excellent Mastodon app @Tusky, but did you know he's also a talented artist?

You can follow his art account at:

@zleap

I don't know, but I do appreciate that many fediverse projects emphasize real benefits for users : self-moderation, no ads, no constant surveillance, etc. Mastodon's marketing in particular IMO does a good job with this.

I think it's easy to get lost in the "how" (open source licenses, decentralized architectures, etc.), but at least to get people interested, it's important to emphasize the "what" -- how is this approach different/better for me as a user.

The Good News:

Android Studio (2021 version) doesn't contain Log4J 2.x

The Bad News

Android Studio (2021 version) contains Log4J 1.2, which reached end of life in 2015 and has security vulnerabilities which won't be patched

Read a bit about the MiSTer FPGA project yesterday - pretty amazing stuff. As I understand it, they're basically re-creating much of 20th century hardware using a programmable FPGA board. This isn't emulation - it's high fidelity re-creations of everything from 1970s arcade boards to the PlayStation 1 (in development).

Emulation is usually good enough for me, but I might get my hands on one eventually...

The web isn't simply getting worse. It's serving capitalist optimization functions. Every trend towards an objectively worse user experience (more paywalls, more scams, more surveillance, more spammy notifications, etc) is the direct result of someone trying to extract more money from you or from someone else. It will inevitably continue.

The upside is that the contrast with alternatives that aren't driven by that optimization function is increasingly stark and obvious.

Watching @pdp7 presentations on the current status of RISC-V ecosystem and available boards/emulators/Soft-Core should provide useful information.

youtube.com/watch?v=ZF_70Cwf4L

It should be noted that RISC-V is still at its early development stages and many boards/chips are produced at very small numbers with extremely expensive methods. Such boards are more directed at developers.

@zleap Yes this is true, it w/be unlikely to affect future trial as the video would be part of discovery.

On the other hand, the relationship between small businesses in the USA and police:

That relationship is part coziness, the other half, unspoken intimidation. Even if silent. Businesses like said dispensaries no doubt fear officer retaliation for the shared video.

And sometimes these videos released help add public pressure to change the training -- which is really at the heart of it.
