One user, @Pat said the server is a bit sluggish for him today, but its fast for me.

Anyone else out there seeing a slow response from the server?

@freemo @Pat have you enabled the instance ticker? i think it does some kind of request which times out.

@bonifartius

Is that something enabled in the client or the server?

@freemo

@Pat
i think it's selected via theme and the default qoto theme has it enabled
@freemo

@bonifartius

I don't see anything about "themes" in the profile or preferences setting on my client.

(I didn't go through every one cause it takes 20s to load on each click.)

@freemo

@bonifartius

Found it. Changed to Mastodon default Theme (dark)" and now the pages are loading quickly.

@freemo

@Pat nice :) i already had the screenshot prepared ;)

@freemo i think the instance ticker needs an update, cf. the issue i linked a few posts back. maybe just changing the domain works too.

@freemo

More data points...

- I pinged all the IP4 addresses resolved from qoto.org and lb.qoto.org and they'e in the 20's ms.

- Tried to load video.qoto.org and the page loads are intermittently slow, but I think that may be related to snatching the videos from the various peertube instances.

@bonifartius

@Pat

It is almost certainly the ticker's domain not resolving which gets you stuck on DNS resolution until it timesout.

@bonifartius

@freemo

What's that domain and I'll try a host lookup from here?

@bonifartius

@Pat

My guess it is the issue with the tickers, the domain is probably down so its stuck trying to resolve it. does the new theme have tickers?
