@ambihelical s like they are just doing it to steal users away, which I really dont mind, if users want to leave they are free to do so... But it does sound like they will just reinstate it in 3 months or less.
@ambihelical considering the huge blocklist hackyderm has I wouldnt feel too secure about federating with them in the future from any instance personally.

If they really recognized their error I'd expect it wouldnt have been a silence.. but it is improvement at least.
@tonic @ambihelical @freemo No. People use shortcuts all the time; it the only way to reasonably operate. But, bring evidence, with polite and respectful argument, and they may change. Applying a critical/skeptical mindset is something scientists do all the time, and is not "backpedaling".
And, ultimately it is a free world; that is the whole point of federation. If they just don't like you for some reason and still want to block you, that is their choice. They may lose members if they block to harshly, but that is up to them to make that mistake.
If everyone in the federation did the same thing, it would be pretty boring. Some people are just more cautious than others (e.g. put 10 innocent people in jail to ensure that 1 guilty person doesn't get away).
There is no reason to be rude about it, however. People are just different.

@ambihelical yes thats normal, you can only follow people who follow you.. BUT you can subscribe and it will work now since we can see their posts.
@freemo Ok, subscribed, I guess I can see who I might want to follow someday...
@freemo We are listed as "limited" on hachyderm.io, (aka the new "silenced") but I've been trying to follow several people on that instance, and on the qoto page I get when I click on search results (and where I did the original follow), they are all in a wait state with "Cancel follow request".
Is this normal when we are a silenced server? If not, could it be a qoto issue? Or is there a workaround?
