I would like to make an instance picker (à la joinmastodon.org) for the @matrix website.

What were the important parameters for you when picking an instance? Language? Terms & Conditions? Code of Conduct? Age of the instance? Patch level of the instance? Structure running the instance?

In other words: how did you decide who to trust (or not) with your identity?

I wanted an instance

- with reasonable and rule set
- + friendly (even if I am not, but most of my are)
- that did not block other , at most muted but open
- with open minded
- with extended functionalities
- oriented

I ended up with , pretty happy about it!

I didn’t research as thoroughly as you, but am very happy to have landed at . The folks posting on the local feed are the kind of people I like to hang out with. And the posts they boost have led me to other interesting people elsewhere.

I’m best at English, but enjoy reading the occasional post in French or Spanish. I haven’t seen any in Hawaiian yet, but that would be cool.
