Mexico used to be about twice as big and took up a HUGE portion of what is now the American south-west, including all of California, Arizona, and Texas. Many many many Mexican people never "immigrated" to the US. The land changed underneath them. Mexican culture has been a central part of the US since the 1820s.
Now you know.

One thing that might help cis people (and many trans people as well, tbh) is just to understand that there is a LOT of variety among trans people and their experiences. A GUT of gender would have to account for all of them. (I am not personally in possession of such a theory.)

Treating the murder of the United Healthcare CEO the same way society treats violence against trans people:
- He was shot just walking into work? I mean what did he expect with his risky lifestyle choices.
- You know CEOs have a really high rate of suicide. If he just had a normal job he would probably still be alive today.
- Extra security? I just don't think we should pander to the whims of a group that's less than 1% of the population.
- I don't hate CEOs I just hate how the right keeps pushing their agenda down my throat.
- OMG stop talking about CEOs, what am I going to tell my children?
- The shooter probably just panicked when he found out he was really a CEO in disguise. It's his fault he was murdered really.
