that graph isnt a catastrophe, you are just looking at the wrong graph.
Now I attached a more relevant chart to the issue. This is the number of deaths caused by COVID-19, this is what we actually care about. No surprise the USA graph attached has shown a clear downward trend with no backslide at all.
We all know why people would have an agenda to paint the wrong picture, but more importantly ask yourselves why these graphs might appear to disagree. thats actually simple, just like all existing SARS viruses the immunity we develop isnt all or nothing. People who are infected and dont develop symptoms can be reinfected and each time they do their response is milder. A huge portion of the population was already infected and asymptomatic, so while the disease can still infect people it is far less deadly.
this is exactly how we **want** the disease to progress.. infections can and will continue, there is no stopping that. but as limited immunity kicks in youll see the deathtoll trend to 0 while the actual case count largely stays the same.
Long story short, it is clear the trend of the USA isnt a catastrophe, so far we have been very successful in our response. When and if the death toll seems to turn then there would be legitimate concern we may have screwed up. But so far, the data looks pretty good.

@freemo @zleap @globcoco @design_RG @rgx@muensterland.social last I heard no one knows why the US death rate doesn't (yet?) match the infection rate. Got any sources for your proposed explanation? Where can I read about it?
Its a lot easier to mess up the data around number of cases than it is to mess up the data around deaths.
So if that presumption is correct then it suggests we have a change in reporting on cases and not in death toll and as such still supports the assertion that the USA is handling the COVID situation very well.

We have been including all cases for a very long time now, it isnt restricted to hospitals.
Claiming that a chart where deathtoll strongly trends towards 0 is a failure is a huge stretch. the numbers dont suggest a failure at any point. In terms of death toll the USA has exceeded most countries. Only a few countries like germany have done marginally better.

Now if you really want to talk about failure look at the world wide COVID death toll chart and compare that to the USA.. clearly the USA isnt the one failing at this.
