What is your favorite ?

@freemo I'm the first to voate for OpenSCAD and BRL-CAD has zero votes?

@swiley well there are only 3 votes so far, so give it time.

OpenSCAD is where im leaning but i dont have much experience with any of them.

@freemo
I voted OpenSCAD, but I gotta be honest, it's the only one that I'm actually comfortable with. I didn't give the others much of a chance.
@swiley

@herag

Considering it requires you to know a DSL and therefore one of the most complicated on the list, the fact that it was the only one you got comfortable with says something in its own right.

@swiley

@freemo @herag IMO: Learning a DSL is much easier than learning a new GUI and building an intuition for manipulating 3d objects with a 2d display and pointing device.

@swiley

for some people, myself included, this is true. Not sure how true it is in general.

Also with cad being a fundementally 3d visualization sort of domain I feel like its less beholden to that then other creation tools might be (like software development)

@herag

@freemo
I know there are other things you can do with it, hut I learned it for creating 3D Printer files. I got used to it and honestly the DSL part was (don't shoot me) kind of fun. Frustrating, but fun.

I have tried to learn how to use things like Blender for the same purpose while I was still learning OpenSCAD and hating myself... but I find Blender to be waaaay more annoying. The UI breaks my brain and isn't as exact.
@swiley

@herag @freemo @swiley I'm considering trying cadquery, which looks more powerful, being based on python

@freemo i haven't tried none in the list. i only ever used qcad (which is 2d only iirc)

@freemo And still zero votes for BRL-CAD with OpenSCAD in the minority.

@freemo At least we know your followers aren't glowing in the dark.
