@swiley I see you decided to take your conspiracy theory shit posting up a notch. I'm impressed.
@freemo The shitposting will continue until the mandates end.
@swiley Ironic since shitposting like this is the best way to ensure the mandates continue and expand as it makes anyone arguing against it look like a conspiracy theory wackadoo. Creating conspiracy nonsense and clearly unfounded claims is about the best way to errode the confidenc ein your side and ensure the other side gets increasing support.
As someone who is against the mandates myself I cant say im happy to see you go through so much effort to increase the support for them.
@freemo I was being quiet before and we got mandates. The next step is violence.
@swiley **You** were being quite. Everyone else against mandates was acting a fool, and we got mandates. Now you've adoped their behaviors that got us those mandates, way to go.
@freemo
We've had brain dead conspiracy theories since forever and people weren't being forced to take drugs over them.
Either the mandates go and the traitors to are country are hurled from DC or the shitposting continues and we get violence.
@freemo
Mass psychosis has been pretty common in the US going back to colonial times.
Small pox had a mortality rate hundreds of times higher than covid.
The small pox vaccine was far more effective.
The federal government was not mandating the vaccine.
What do you suggest I do? It's this or violence.
@swiley oh yes, it all is just so forced, I can feel how reluctant you are, how much you wish you didn't have to do this. And before this horrible curse fell upon you the amazing things you publish were so numerous, I mean the timeline was overflowing with swiley genius, wasn't it? hmm... or could be perhaps that you don't like talking publicly about anything other than politics, and now that an opportunity presented itself you're going ham on it? Oh no, that couldn't be it...
In his defense when Swiley started out here his content was middling, not the shitposting he is up to now for sure, but admittedly nothing super insightful either. But it was respectable.
His posting pattern changed almost overnight. Only reason I know is because as an admin all of sudden everyone and their mama was reporting him and messaging me asking me "whats up with swiley, was his account hacked maybe". He went from generally well liked to intolerable almost overnight.
So the change was so abrupt I am willing to admit he may have made a conscious effort to shit post. Why he feels he should be on a science instance and make all us suffer with stuff he admits and knows to be shit is beyond me. But thats how freedom of speech works I guess, as long as he is a professional in STEM he can be as much of an idiot as he wants.
I kinda miss the days I looked forward to his posts and respected him though.
@swiley Those are hardly your options. You can be vocally against mandates, and you should be. But you should do so in a way that comes across educated, informed, reasoned and ultimately causes people not dismiss you as a nut case. That means, generally, you lean more towards truth than just trying to sell any wild story no matter how absurd that might remotely be anti-vax.
If people trust what your saying as coolheaded, informed, and respectable then when you talk out against mandates on vaccination then at least you will be heard by people who might be inclined to agree with you.
I'm not sure why you feel being absurd and selling conspiracy theory nonsense or violence is your only two extremes and why selling your side while sticking to truth and reason is somehow not an option...
