@Acer bake is just normal oven cooking. Broil is where the top heater comes on and the bottom heater stays off, usually at the maximum possible temprature.

Roast is a bit different as its just a type of baking usually. Its where you bake normally then raise the temperature very high near the end of the baking, usually in broil mode. So it is effectively baking followed by broiling.
