@thor It's crazy to think that the Arduino and Raspberry Pi have replaced the 555.

My M5StickV still makes me feel giddy when I use it. The object detection, tracking and capability is still amazing for what it is. I bought this thing and it was more capable than a gaming PC with an HD camera. Don't underestimate cheap hardware. That was my first RISC V experience. Dual core RV64GC in a tiny package.

@thor Go the theory route with a little background on the 328P UNO. Bridging the gap between circuit logic and more powerful solutions. A general purpose MCU that is flexible, inexpensive and focuses on minimalism.

C should be easy to learn in this context and will help to explain how everything works.

That's my take on it.

@thor The illusion of free will? I sometimes wonder if it actually exists and if evolution has conditioned us to make decisions that are the result of the conditioning. The decisions of soldiers manning nuclear launch sites seems to imply that free will might be an illusion but is key to our survival as a race.

It's just a thought. A greedy algorithm that takes interdependence and the needs of the many into consideration.

@thor Even the old Raspberry Pi Zero can do this. The Pi 4 is capable of much more.

So are Hackerspaces free? There aren't any around me.

@lucifargundam There seems to be some disparity between the jobs and what they post. It is as if they have artificially increased the listings to offset the obvious scams.

@LittleFox Why not Coreboot? I've had to deal with UEFI malware on a 3 month old enterprise grade computer. It only took a week of work to fix.

UEFI is usually garbage unless the manufacturer of the motherboard put the proper effort into it.

@lispi314 @worldsendless I guess there's always sending and receiving simple alive messages to the connections. It maintains that a link is established and also the delay time to expect. A simple protocol could be expanded upon by simple changes to work in these ways.

@lispi314 @worldsendless Yes to the first question. XMPP was used to control industrial equipment. It is rather robust but delays could cause problems.
At a certain point it is helpful to realize that the delays are the absence of a connection that is suitable for communication. Matrix had lowered bandwidth required for messaging to be well within dialup speeds.

@lupyuen Loongsoon is a pretty good. It is nice to see domestic designs making a comeback.

@lucifargundam I'm not reacting to peanuts so it must have been something else. I don't have insurance so I had to find out the best way.
