I have to day, Kamala Harris has upped her game significantly. Her 2020 campaign didn’t generate anywhere near the same enthusiasm. On top of that, the negative press was overwhelming. (Undeservedly so, I’d argue. After all, misogynoir is a thing, and it’s rampant.)

Thankfully, Joe Biden believed in her, and made her his running mate. Now look at her. She’s stronger than ever.

The nice thing about piecing together your own spirituality from the ground up, is that you don't have to deal with filtering out the bigotry and bullshit of countless generations of humans who created the particular tradition you follow.

But you're still left with the task of filtering out your own bigotry and bullshit.

And that's why I never want my own version of spirituality to turn into someone else's future religion. I'd like to keep my own bullshit and bigotry limited to my lifetime.

The new #eruption fissure is located where the previous ones were, and is now 3,9km long, possibly still growing. Still significant seismic activity, with an earthquake of magnitude 4 even measured.

Don't buy these. New, second-hand, whatever. In addition to the gross rent-seeking, our NICU nurses despised them. They are not good for newborn development.

🔴 **Temperature-related mortality burden and projected change in 1368 European regions: a modelling study**

"_By 2100, based on our modelling, heat-related deaths in Europe could increase to more than 234 455 deaths annually in the worst scenario, compared with around 43 729 deaths for the current scenario (1991–2020), potentially shifting the mortality peak from cold to warm seasons in certain regions._"

Updated Friendica to the latest stable. Everything seems fine. Merged into Yunohost github.com/YunoHost-Apps/frien… - now I am one of the maintainers so that's good, I'll try to keep the package up to date. However we need help with this issue - github.com/YunoHost-Apps/frien…

I'm very curious what municipalities might do if pressured by people with electric cars who do not have on-property parking at their homes

Disability Rights New York has filed a class action lawsuit against Nassau County seeking an injunction to stop the enforcement of mask bans.

This is exactly the kind of action we need to see happen against discriminatory & ableist mask bans.

Law enforcement should not be the arbiter of who is “sick enough” to legally wear a mask. Many disabilities are invisible - and police are NOT doctors.

For more on the Nassau County mask ban and why it’s discriminatory - as well as why everyone (disabled or not) should be allowed to wear a mask - read my article here: disabledginger.com/p/nassau-co

10 Things We’ve Learned About #PFAS in #CascoBay

Last updated: April 17, 2024

"Concerns about PFAS have surfaced as more of #Maine’s lands and waters are tested. Before 2023, no one had gathered samples from the marine waters of Casco Bay yet. Last year, #FriendsOfCascoBay and Bigelow Laboratories for Ocean Sciences partnered up to test for per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in Casco Bay. We’ve gathered the results from our first year of samples and have learned some interesting things about PFAS along the way.

1. We found PFAS at all 18 sites we sampled in Casco Bay in 2023.

2. Research shows PFAS to have serious and long-term health consequences.

3. PFAS have been manufactured since the 1940s.

I've been using the same drawing tablet for ~16 years. It's a gen 1 Wacom CINTIQ 21UX. I kept telling myself if Kitsune Tails did well then I'd finally let myself buy a new one. I feel like that might be in the cards soon? It's a weird feeling.

Also, there really aren't drivers for this thing easily available anywhere, I salvaged my old drivers from the bottom of my previous computer's Downloads folder. Is there an archival place I could send that to for future use by other people?
