@piggo Go ahead. It's an interesting etude. And it's actually a must in geographies without them. And you never know when that skill becomes handy 😄 .
Though the get the final thickness right takes some training... And to get them close to the "supermarket quality" is for me still close to impossible (almost 20 years of trying there!).
On the other hand, my kids would kill for them on Sunday morning, so some Saturday nights are baking time with Christmas in the morning 🙂 .
That final line: is that supposed to render on some fedi platform? Very curious about the imagery 🤔
@pony "sudoku" 🤦♂️
@z428 So you are finally getting into the "cheerful" department 😄
Well, that's just the dust cover. The rest of the book presumably survived 😄 . Anyway, The Monks of New Skete == good and useful advice.
> und ganz aus dem Westen
Westen ist relativ.
Given the Earth is round-ish, to the west of the west lies the east. Somehow. Eventually.
Wilkommen. And enjoy.
Ukraine conflict Black Sea
And here is a dedicated Ukrainian farmer, going out of his way to tow back some pieces of the Moskva back to land.
Also, an apt computer comparison.
@pony There are some, as of yet unconfirmed, news that Igor Osipov, the Black Sea Fleet commander in chief was already arrested. So no tea, so far...
re: war
Look. It's odd to express who I am "cheering" for. The problem is the "cheering" part.
But I guess your question was simple a straightforward and deserves a simple straightforward response. I personally wish Ukraine will be able to protect its territorial integrity and its people in the face of this senseless and brutal Russian aggression. And since this assault, in effect, is also a direct assault on the security structures we built for ourselves in Europe, yes, I hope Russia will be forced to back off and stop threatening me and my society with their military actions apparently backed by very paranoid and, to me, absolutely incomprehensible imperialistic rhetoric.
So much to my hopes. I also realise that reality will play out in a much more complicated ways.
@z428 Very 80s newspaper style.
Diesmal war ich spontan im Schau- und Sichtungsgarten, wo gerade alles voller Tulpen ist :) #oneLeahADay
@piggo What a lonely world.
@piggo LinkedIn displayed this this morning. I almost spat my coffee on the display. The guy is having a day...
re: war
@piggo In all honesty, those Slovak MIGs are a PITA. I don't know how many there are (11?), but actually only like 2 or 4 are operable at any time and even that only with Russian technicians stationed in the country all the time. I.e., those are rather spare parts in a form of a fighter jet packaging than operable aircraft anyway. The sooner they get rid of them, the better.
re: war
@piggo thanks, I am trawling the comments. Let's hope it's something. Thanks for good news. I never thought I would be cheering for war, but if we all manage this right, we can live several decades more calmly. Methinks...
war
@piggo I seriously wish the story with polish MIGs will play out similarly as it did with the Slovak S-300:
1. how about S-300?
2. mhhhmmm...
3. OK
4. Cheers
5. or not?
6. mhhhmhmmhmh...
7. ....
8. delivered!
9. cheers
But it's been now several weeks since the MIG gaffe, so I am not sure...
war
@piggo cause this is what we should be sending: https://buymeafighterjet.com/
war
@piggo where do you take that news from? cause a couple of T-72s and an S-300 does not a summer make...
Exploring, failing, backtracking, just to identify the only viable path forward. And then scarred, stumbling forward into the future. Learning.
Boring and steady. Knowing little and questioning a lot. Mostly harmless.

This is an experimental scrapbook space. A collection of stuff I want to keep in a form somewhere on the spectrum between a blog and a shoe-box full of scraps, cut-outs, quotes, links and reading notes and sometimes my own silly thoughts about them.
Perhaps it might be of marginal interest to others too, but I don't care that much.
