@LisCarey @actuallyautistic I'm a library technician at a University. Cataloging is one of my special interests (books are my special interest and I love organizing them, my whole 1300+ library at home is all catalogued). I have 3 lists on worldcat.org for #actuallyautistic people, fiction, non-fiction and research papers

@shibaprasad I've been using Tusky for a day or two now and I do like it better. Thanks again for the suggestion.

Above the age of majority (≥18 years in most countries), I hope you'll consider applying to study medicine with The Medical Democrats (not a political group, but an evidence-based teaching & learning group) using the link below. Only cost is your time.

Hey Linux geek, you can use PGP, parsed by @keyoxide, to be verified on Mastodon. It only takes 12 minutes:

Too much? here's an easy HTML way, too:

@autisticbookclub @Kjun @bookstodon @actuallyautistic
Recommend /The Chrysalids/, a science fiction novel by British writer John Wyndham, first published in 01955.

@Kjun @bookstodon

5 books I'd recommend:
1. A Kind of Spark, #ElleMcNicoll - A book about difference & neurodivergence, brilliant!

2. Ten Steps to Nanette, #HannahGadsby - A searing autobiography of an #ActuallyAutistic woman.

3. But You Don't Look Autistic At All, #BiancaToeps The DSM criteria for #Autism from an #Autistic POV

4. A Man Called Ove, #FredrikBackman Emotional; #trauma & #neurodivergence.

5. Klara & The Sun, #KazuoIshiguro What does it mean to be human?

Please boost:

Who else on here works on #phylogenetics?

Maybe do a quick post with what you work on (e.g. clades, methods, questions...), and include the hashtag #phylogenetics so we can find and follow each other. Feel free to link to a paper or two!

For my part - I work on model selection, phylogenetic algorithms, mixture models, and at the moment am mostly working on the problem of how you find >1 tree in a single alignment, e.g. our latest attempt biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/20

I think I read that I can use keyword filters to prevent myself from seeing any posts which contain a certain keyword.

But is it possible to block all accounts marked as bots? If so, how?

@MaRY1Fem where is that? I haven't seen that. Is it inherent in Mastodon or client-based?

[THREAD] This thread will contain #autism knowledge quizzes.

It won't be textbook stuff.

Some questions will have a right answer, but others are arguable, and you may even want to argue about the options. Some will be opinion polls.

Most of the questions serve as prompts for further enquiry, and are designed to support advocacy in the areas of #AutisticHealth, #communication rights and #DisabilityRights in general.

@actuallyautistic

Bit of light reading for a Sunday 🤔 Looking at various tools and methods for identifying cellular senescence in an attempt to save the lab team a lot of time carrying out manual cell counts 😬

@warkittens I've been considering another federated protocol: matrix.org. But at this point I think Mastodon may be the better alternative of the two. Still learning about both though.

@warkittens did you migrate from qoto.org?

Which instances were unable to follow you here?

@shibaprasad thanks for suggesting Tusky. I'm reading about it and other Android app alternatives now.

@MedicalDemocrat I prefer using it in the app. But not the official one through. You miss a lot of things if you use that app.

I use Tusky for Android. And for ios there is Metatext.
