#DogsOfMastodon this is my little rescue dog, Folly. She likes to help me work and sees herself as a future bioinformatician 🤔🐶
Hello #ScienceMastadon #AcademicMastadon Just wondering if there is anyone else out there who is involved in medical imaging research? I am currently a bioinformatician using RNA-seq data to investigate cellular ageing, but I'm also a qualified diagnostic radiographer and will soon be starting a postdoc in medical imaging. I am especially interested in utilising my quite diverse experience to bring together genetics and imaging to improve medical diagnostics. Would love to connect with anyone who is interested in this area of research or who works in medical imaging in general! 😀 #bioinformatics #genetics #rna #radiography #medicalimaging #medicine
#introduction I qualified as a radiographer but currently a bioinformaticion working in human genetics (have also worked in microbial genomics). Soon to be starting a postdoc in medical imaging. I live in Devon with my two kids and my dog. Interested in politics and all things science!

An incredible achievement by the planetary defense community! #2022WJ1 was a tiny asteroid on a collision course with Earth. But astronomers saw it coming, and NASA’s Scout impact hazard assessment system calculated where it would hit: https://www.jpl.nasa.gov/news/nasa-program-predicted-impact-of-small-asteroid-over-ontario-canada #CNEOS #PDCO #NASA #Scout #PlanetaryDefense
Something that I hope to spend more time on now that I've wrapped up my PhD is astrophotography.
This photo of the Milky Way was captured over the dark skies of the Ozarks in August 2020. Designated as an International Dark Sky Site, the glow of light pollution is still visible on the horizon, in this case the light dome from Little Rock and surrounding areas.
This photo is a stacked and tracked 30-image composite taken over 30 minutes.

What do you mean "there are bears in those woods"? You never said there would be bears🐻 #dogsofmastodon

Hello folks! 👋 I am Hans, a Machine Learning Scientist 👨🔬 at a (sadly still stealth) startup, working remote from The Netherlands (we're actively #hiring!). I'm also a PhD candidate in computation pathology, predicting prognosis for people with prostate cancer. See this repo for my work on enabling CNNs to be trained with gigapixel images: https://github.com/DIAGNijmegen/pathology-streaming-pipeline
My #introduction… I’m a mom, a nurse, a scientist. I like all things science & research and I want a safe place to learn & engage.
I like learning about what makes tiny lungs strong & healthy. I call this Pulmonary Resilience and I want to help babies born too soon. 'neotwitter' is a great place but that platform is imploding & too noisy so I'm hoping to find folks here!
