I just checked the server rules, and it doesn't appear that making fun of people with a lisp is against the rules. (But it's still not nice.)
I remeber not so long ago, comedians and others would publicly make fun a Barbara Walters' lisp. They would never do that today.
(ps - I'm sure I've posted a lot of stuff here that could be considered inappropriate myself.)
@Pat @lucifargundam @trinsec Personally, as someone with loads of family all over the disability and neurodivergent spectrum, our policy has always been it's fine to poke fun at the condition, but never at anyone with said condition.
However, I can totally see how some people with speech impediments may see our conversation as hurtful, which was not the intention and I hope that is not viewed in such a way.
Sorry if I made you uncomfortable Pat, I'll try to be more mindful of this in the future.

I don't have that condition, but I am neurodivergent. This thread didn't make me feel uncomfortable, and I didn't intend to put anyone here on the hot seat. I was just giving my take on it.
Yes, often funny things happen that are related to a condition, and if everyone involved is fine with joking about it, I don't see why you can't laugh at funny things.

It's come to my understanding, that some patrons of the fediverse suffer from "the human condition". If any of you are afflicted with this birth defect, I apologize if I ever offended you by calling you a person ;)
