Here I sit, broken hearted,
Tried to shit, but only farted.
Could be worse, you must admit,
than if you try to fart and instead you shit.
That's the same for a lot of folks, myself included until a few years ago.
The problem is that the images, the feelings, get through to your unconscious, even though you don't consciously notice it.
The point of that exercise with the 10 films was to try to see it and quantitize it somehow, just to get a feel for the scope and depth of the problem. Small sample, but...
@freemo
Do you recall anything about how black people were treated in the film? I've seen random clips posted here and there, and it looks like the film began with black/Latino men beating up the protagonist. It appears to also have other black people in the film, but having not watched it, I'm not sure how that was handled.
Not to change the subject, but did you see any of the films from that list we had -- that random sample of films to test the racial bias theory?
If I remember correctly, this is one of those Hollywood films that has some issues with racial bias, too. Pretty obviously, in fact.
Seemed realistic, but others would know more than me. Sometimes it's fun to watch films like that just to point out the flaws -- like watching a scifi where the spaceships make noise in the vacuum of space.
Highly recommended.
The Good Shepherd?
When you get to be my age, I think you may change your mind. The wisdom continues to accumulate, at least it has for me. If you think back on who you were 10 or 20 years ago -- that process continues.
Wow. You should be proud of your father. I was going to mention some of Kennedy's mistakes that I felt may have been due to his inexperience, but now I realize I would have embarrassed myself.
Biden - too old
Trump - too old
Obama - too young
Kennedy - too young
Reminds me of when Bush-41 barfed on the Japanese Prime Minister on live TV.
Also, when Carter's hemorrhoids made the evening news.
It that story true? I mean literally true?
This image is from wikimedia commons (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:LA_smog_masks.jpg).
It's ~1954 and shows people wearing gas masks to protect themselves from the LA (Los Angeles) smog. During the 50s and 60s in LA the accumulated air pollution from gasoline cars was so bad that it caused peoples nostrils and lungs to burn.
Basically what Beijing is going through now.
Ironically, this is a meeting of the "Optimists Club".

I think C-SPAN hosts read QOTO:

"Before he left, the president spoke about his initiative, his social spending initiative, the Build Back Butter... Better plan."

As long as it's not written in all caps, they're ok.
Hi.
I don't think anybody understood this, so I filled it out...
I'm just a geek.
Pronouns: She/Him/Her/His
(Use "she" for the subjective case, "him" for the objective case, "her" for the active possessive case, and "his" for the passive possessive case. Note: This is to avoid non-PC objectification and passivity.)
