This isn’t a sex trafficking ring, it’s adult industry workers being framed by cops. The uproar would be hellacious if taxpayers found out their dollars were being used for stings between consenting adults, so they lie and say these adults have been trafficked. twitter.com/darafaye/status/16

A buried lede in last week's @CommonSenseMedia report on young people's experience with adult content — less than a third of parents are using even basic filtering on devices or home internet. Would love to see how that breaks out demographically.

Just in case you needed further proof that the conservative obsessions with simultaneously treating children like property and accusing others of "grooming", has nothing to do with "protecting" children.

It's about control, indoctrination, and brainwashing: twitter.com/daithaigilbert/sta

Why is a human rights-centered approach ideal for keeping kids safe? It lets us recognize and address the additional risks faced by children who are members of marginalized groups, including higher rates of suicidality, mental health issues, and abuse targeting these children.

Based on some of the comments I’ve seen recently, a little refresher:
• porn isn’t inherently harmful
• nudity isn’t inherently sexual
• bdsm isn’t inherently abusive
• inherently (adverb): in a permanent, essential, or characteristic way

"So, without further introduction, here are our top ten posts that are controversial but shouldn’t be – or, if you prefer, ten quick articles you can read to learn a little bit more about the prevention of child sexual abuse." buff.ly/3kVoAW9

Attractions don't commit abuse, people do.

This simple fact is the foundation of all work to prevent abuse. Human behavior, unlike attractions, can be changed, meaning nobody is doomed to harm a child. Those who are at risk of doing so can be given support to find another path.

West Virginia is looking to ban ALL adult businesses from the state. The "Sexually Oriented Businesses Regulation Act" says it needs to violate the 1st Amendment in order to safeguard the "health, safety and *morals*" of West Virginians. twitter.com/JosephShuler/statu

“As soon as you say that she can’t have a real-world connection with someone else, you dehumanize her. She is a human being. She deserves to have relationships and connections with whoever she wants.” buff.ly/3iWSys9

Pedophilia is sensationalized when it is reported salaciously, exaggerated, used for reality TV-style entertainment, and turned into a political football. If we want to prevent abuse and keep kids safe, we should instead normalize accurate information and levelheaded discussion.

Really want people to understand many of these bills criminalize LGBTQ+ expression. Right now, Section 230 prevents state bills like these from being enforced. Mississippi can ban drag performances, but Instagram can ignore that cuz 230 pre-emption. If it's weakened, we're fucked twitter.com/Esqueer_/status/16

So when someone writes a piece about trans people and includes the perspective of orgs that a) do not include any trans people, b) spread misinformation about trans people, and c) are functionally anti-trans hate groups... we should question that choice!

How religious you are determines, whether or not you think you have a porn addiction regardless of actual porn consumption.

The fight against child abuse and the fight to protect human rights are fundamentally entwined because all children have a right to a life without abuse. This simple belief drives every aspect of our work. Learn more about who we are and what we do: buff.ly/31a7UKZ

As the extent of clerical sexual abuse in the Catholic Church became clear in the 90s and 00s, efforts were made to pin the blame on homosexual priests, but research has consistently found no link between homosexuality and child abuse.

What does it mean that Prostasia takes a prevention-focused approach? While other child protection organizations work to identify and stop ongoing abuse or provide support to survivors after abuse has occurred, we work to stop it from happening in the first place.

"By scaling back our activities in other areas such as events, consulting, and advocacy, Prostasia was able to focus on its most distinctive contribution: the primary and secondary prevention of child sexual abuse" buff.ly/3GUDu6a
