A few quotes from this that I appreciate :

"Now, to be fair, what we still don’t know is what percentage of people who have died with covid in 2020 would otherwise be alive if this virus had never existed."

"(Although this raises an interesting question, if covid was the tipping point illness for many very sick people with multiple co-morbidities, wouldn’t the number of elderly people dying in later months this year and next year likely be lower than normal? Because those very ill people had their deaths accelerated by a few months due to covid? That seems likely to me.)"

@realcaseyrollins
I've seen those and appreciate them. There was someone else also a year ago with dark hair and beard and glasses if I remember correctly.

It's always great to see and motivating. My struggle is balancing lack of sleep and too much to do (work and I have a half dozen young kids) and wanting to get up early to run. Something has to give.

Hey, that's great, we'll done! Is there an app you're using that's tracking total miles for the year and these images?

Your Coronavirus Test Is Positive. Maybe It Shouldn’t Be.

In three sets of testing data that include cycle thresholds, compiled by officials in Massachusetts, New York and Nevada, up to 90 percent of people testing positive carried barely any virus, a review by The Times found.

On Thursday, the United States recorded 45,604 new coronavirus cases, according to a database maintained by The Times. If the rates of contagiousness in Massachusetts and New York were to apply nationwide, then perhaps only 4,500 of those people may actually need to isolate and submit to contact tracing.

I am using subway toooter right now, as I can't find a way to quote on Fedilab or Husky. It's not as user friendly but seems to have more options. Not fully used to it yet.

I've been for 1 year. 1,147 miles run. Looking at the numbers for the first time... I averaged over 3.14 miles every single day!? Wow.

I ran 13.5 this morning, thinking this would be my last run of my first year, but according to my logs, it's actually the first run of year 2.

Here's to a better year, with more miles. And hopefully the 2021 marathon won't be canceled, and I'll run my first.

Someone out there that I follow used to post end-of-run selfies on the fediverse, and that was part of my motivation. Thanks.... Whoever you are.

Going forward it would be useful to debunk the largely unchallenged premise that it should be as easy for people to vote as possible. twitter.com/michaelmalice/stat

This one is a reply. The others being quotes, don't show as related at all, and no notifications to the original poster, I think, when someone replies by quoting. Hmm.

Ah. Buried in a menu... But also here on replying, has a Use "Quote Toot" checkbox when replying. I guess my question is....is this a reply or an unrelated toot that uses the quote tag?

MUST SEE: Democratic state Rep. John Deberry Jr. delivers an incredibly powerful speech on race in America.

@Korsier Ahh... saw the other toot/tweet from Walsh. They crowded a restaurant to demand... wow.

@Korsier What's the context? with everyone just yelling, I can't tell what they're yelling about.

There's a lot to like here in Denver. Hopefully taking a few of the kids up a 14er this weekend.

But the cost of living is high and it's less friendly than it used to be.

It used to be politically purple, but has gone pretty far too one side, too the point that anyone with a non left bumper sticker can expect to get their car keyed in any metro area. I have friends who have understandably moved away.

The quiet part of loud. Mail in voting may not be bad, but they mean it as an insurance policy to change the vote after election night.

Hillary Clinton warns Joe Biden not to concede 2020 election "under any circumstances"

Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton warned 2020 Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden on Monday not to concede the election "under any circumstances" because she believes the final results in November's election may take longer than usual due to mail-in voting.
