And... they're calling it. Just a few outlets so far. Others still have at 230, 246,247, 267.

Trump is winning both the electoral college and the popular vote, and is winning in all yet-to-be-called swing states.

Interesting to see the different outlets calling states very differently. American conservatives seem to be overconfident given the surprises the last 2 elections.

8 years ago we watched melt-downs on live TV as Clinton lost to Trump. 4 years ago we went to bed thinking Trump had won and work up with states having flipped in the night.

When I first came to the U.S. 12 years ago I was annoyed that everyone was telling me that this is the greatest country in the world. Now I am tired of hearing that this is the worst country in the world.

It’s true that this country has only extremes

Most software devs are not hired to reinvent the wheel. It's a difficult temptation to fight because we all have the confidence that we could build a better wheel. And we lose focus on delivering business value to spin our wheels.

Repost this if you voted for in both the primary and the general election.

When I read 1984 and the Two Minutes Hate, I didn't expect that to one day be the entirety of a presidential campaign. Yet here we are.

"The horrible thing about the Two Minutes Hate was not that one was obliged to act a part, but, on the contrary, that it was impossible to avoid joining in. Within thirty seconds any pretence was always unnecessary. A hideous ecstasy of fear and vindictiveness, a desire to kill, to torture, to smash faces in with a sledge-hammer, seemed to flow through the whole group of people like an electric current, turning one even against one's will into a grimacing, screaming lunatic."

A vote for President Trump is a vote for:

- JD Vance
- Vivek Ramaswamy
- Tulsi Gabbard
- Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.
- Nicole Shanahan
- Elon Musk
- Ron Paul

Never seen so much raw talent associated with one candidate.

Investigation Reveals Trump’s Role In 'Home Alone 2' Was Staged

The allegations already sent shockwaves across the political landscape, with Democratic leaders saying the scandal was yet another indication that Trump is unfit for office for shamelessly staging what is now believed to be an entirely fabricated interaction with a lost young boy in a hotel lobby.

Dick Cheney Excitedly Joins Democrat Party After Hearing They Get To Shoot People At Gun Ranges

"I can't believe I've been missing out on this," said Cheney, happily loading up his rifle. "Boy, do I love shooting humans. Looks like that Missouri fella shot his human in the arm -- I'm more of a shoot-him-in-the-face guy, but to each his own. Sign me up."

So every FaCt ChEcK saying "but wait, crime is down" was wrong. Every one. went up, not down, according to a silent revision of the fbi numbers. The only published info about the numbers is from a year ago still boasting, falsely, that the numbers went down. One has to get to the data and analyze it to see it's been revised and the press release is untrue.

How much more violent crime? "80,029 more violent crimes" than the prior year. That's not a decrease. That's a huge increase.

The government can't guard us from . The government is producing the misinformation.

Excerpts from the article:

[in 2023 the ] reported that the nation’s violent crime rate fell by 2.1%. This quickly became, and remains, a Democratic Party talking point to counter Donald Trump’s claims of soaring crime.

But the FBI has quietly revised those numbers, releasing new data that shows violent crime increased in 2022 by 4.5%. The new data includes thousands more murders, rapes, robberies, and aggravated assaults.

...

“This FBI report is stunning because it now doesn’t state that violent crime in 2022 was much higher than it had previously reported, nor does it explain why the new rate is so much higher, and it issued no press release about this large revision,” said David Mustard, the Josiah Meigs Distinguished Professor at the University of Georgia who researches extensively on crime. “This lack of transparency harms the FBI’s credibility.”

We've all lived through, and survived, four years of and four years of ...unless you're under eight years old.

We know what to expect from both.

The world didn't end under either.

Maybe we can have conversations rather than just making up boogeyman scary stories?

Looking at the federated timeline I mostly just see boogeyman after boogeyman.

Also, there's much more going on with the world and we can affect the world in ways better than we can by imagining nightmares about our less favored politician.

Go out and do some good. Sponsor a child living in extreme poverty. Fund a clean water project. Lots of easy ways to do real good and make a significant impact for someone today.

Reading my first Charles Williams. The Place of the Lion. Great read so far. I will look for more Williams.
