@frostygoth do you have any experience with the Linux command line? If so, it’s similar to other distros but with a different package manager and some other small flavor variations

@lucifargundam I love the honesty for this one:

“Sprint is currently not supported due to unknown reasons. Any input regarding this issue is highly appreciated.”

Definitely a needed read for anyone considering the pine phone

One of my current hobbies has been lawn care. It’s extremely therapeutic to go out and mow and feed the grass after 10 hours of rummaging through Splunk logs trying to catch signs of bad guys.

@borrof @why oh but I bet if the policemen cooked up the suspects afterwards, they’d be delicious

@borrof I’m not too fond of my government knowing all about me. I would prefer they knew just as little as needed, and let me go about my business. Unfortunately it’s harder and harder to be fully anonymous without making extreme sacrifices but that’s just the times we’re in I suppose

@borrof the hardest part is maintaining anonymity while banking in the US. All financial institutions require your social security number to open an account so big brother knows where you’re keeping your money. That’s where things get a bit grey

@borrof that said, I always recommend a variety of holdings. Some money in bank accounts, others in crypto, and some in established index funds

@borrof banks in the US are not inherently insecure and all reputable banks are insured by the US government for up to $250k per account. If you have $1 mil split across 4 accounts at the same bank and that company gets pwnd, you don’t lose any money.

Any enterprise still using Accellion or Solarwinds is either incompetent or believe they are fully mitigated through other means. Either way, supply chain attacks look to be the flavor of the year

@borrof I appreciate the heads up. I can understand the shock factor someone might have moving from a heavily regulated, heavily influenced platform, to something more open where there’s no hiding inside your echo chamber. For me, that’s a good chunk of the fedi appeal

@mur2501 I should ask my employer to have my title changed to that officially

@borrof sounds like the 90’s Wild West of the internet all over again

@stannard thank you! We’re definitely running on 3 hour sleep sprints. It’s tough and I feel like I was completely unprepared even after receiving tons of advice but I wouldn’t change it for the world

@freemo awesome and thank you! It’s really great to be here.
