I think that what these researcher did was noble and highly ethical: they proved an (obvious and) dangerous operational issue that was likely exploited before without anybody noticing.

All this drama is just the king that, fooled by thieves, is crying loud that the kids pointing at his nudity must be executed.

Scelta legittima (soprattutto a livello personale), ma che non condivido, proprio perché sono antifascista.

Ancor meno la condivido in termini amministrativi: impedendo a chi sta sulla tua istanza di leggere e ribattere (se vuole) a chi non ti piace, aumenti la probabilità che ciò che non ti piace si diffonda.

"Occhio non vede, cuore non duole" non funziona in politica, perché alla fine siamo tutti sulla stessa barca.

IMHO marginalizzare i razzisti (o i fascisti o...) permette al razzismo (o al fascismo o...) di diffondersi più liberamente, inosservato ed incontrastato.

Chiunque "abbocchi" alle loro teorie va aiutato a confrontarsi con la differenza, ad incontrare le persone che teme per scoprire quanto infondate siano le sue paure e le teorie deliranti che ha costruito per giustificarle.

Isolarlo è controproducente.

Il dialogo è l'unica cura.
Il dialogo è lotta antifascista.

To be honest I really have no issue with a group of people that feel the need to fork a project over political concerns.

Really: so much that since years I add a POLITICS.txt to my #FreeSoftware projects to make my political goals clear and explicit an I welcome forks over that if people don't share them.

The BDFL is a perfectly ethical approach to lead volunteers as long as all of these volunteers can fork the project.

In fact the attitude torwads forks is a key discriminator between Free Software and #OpenSource projects, as the formers welcome and celebrate them, the latters fear and blame them because they erode their #market share and challenge the governance.

Now if you want to fork #GNU over governance for whatever reason (challenging #RMS' leadership, included) you ARE welcome!

LibreOffice did so and it's totally fine.

But doing so this way, fooling users of the forked project or confusing them, is unfair #marketing proper of Open Source tactics.

Please rename your fork with something different.

In fact some of your early members suggested to fork #GCC, on the GCC mailing list.

Just after RMS was removed by the Steering Committee. And the #FSF oversight with him.

I was not ironic about forks: #FreeSoftware is not #OpenSource: more forks mean more development paths explored.

They are always welcome!

But please, do not confuse users.

A new governance means a new project. That is fine! But be clear!
