Anyone need a random bloke to tell you that I care about you and value you as a human being? If so, consider this it, message me if you want the more personalized form.

Love for all!

This is going to be a long one. Buckle in.

So, today's is in honor of the music my mother introduced me to.

Why?

Because I'm a good Jewish boy who loves his mother. (Also, I think she's got pretty good taste in music.)

So, without further ado, here are bands, songs, and musics that my mother specifically introduced me to while I was growing up!

Let's start with Jethro Tull. My mother loves Jethro Tull, and it certainly gave me a love for 'Progressive Rock'. In that mind, my favorite Prog Rocker, Steven Wilson did some remixes of Jethro Tull- Enjoy one of those tracks: Rover, from the album Heavy Horses: open.spotify.com/track/1ZpOlBm

Music was often a part of my life growing up. My mother plays guitar, and for a time used to take jobs at bars and taverns as live entertainment. A little something extra for the house. I was too young to join her on these excursions, so I don't know exactly what she played. Knowing my mother, though, she'd probably be playing folk music- old and new. She loves folk music.

Let's start with the fantastic singer songwriters The Indigo Girls. In the early 90s my mother got me one of my first CDs: The Indigo Girls "Rites of Passage". My favorite song from the album is Galileo (It was a toss up between this one and Ghost, both on the same album... I'm going with Galileo because it always makes me want to sing.

Now, Debbie Friedman- what young Jewish person in the modern era doesn't know Debbie Friedman? Not By Might, Not By Power: open.spotify.com/track/3FQx5p1

Peter, Paul and Mary- What Folk loving person doesn't include them? Here is my favorite song my Mother used to sing to me as a child- Weave Me the Sunshine : open.spotify.com/track/2H9eq8h

Let's roll it back into rock and roll now. As a child of the late 60s, and mostly the 70s my Mom was most certainly into the eclectic mix that happened in the era. Luckily, my mother never really kept herself to a single genre- any music is good music to her. (She does have reservations about modern Rap, but I think we can forgive that.)

As this post has gotten quite long, I'm going to just post a few songs with titles and artists to more or less wrap up this session of

Fleetwood Mac's The Chain: open.spotify.com/track/5e9TFTb

Hall and Oates' Sara Smile: open.spotify.com/track/1qjrYoz

The Beatles' Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da : open.spotify.com/track/02FJNRU

Last, but not least- Cecilia by Simon and Garfunkel: open.spotify.com/track/6QhXQOp

Now, I could put hours and hours and hours of music on this particular as my mother's musical tastes go on and on. But, here we are- a little taste of the music my mother shared with me while I grew up.

Are there any songs one of your parents shared with you growing up that's shaped your musical interests? I'd love to hear it!

Time to find some music for , I think to myself.

But what sort of theme will we follow today....

I got it- Singer/Songwriters who trend towards dark, creepy, or 'horror-folk' music. Some of these have undoubtedly come up before, I apologize for any doubling of AMAZING MUSIC. (Sorry not sorry?)

Let's get started:

The World Ender, by Lord Huron- a rock-folk song about a revenant coming back to life and murdering the people who killed his family (And also him.)

open.spotify.com/track/4v2Bs11

I Love You Like An Alcoholic by The Taxpayers - Not all love is healthy, is it?

open.spotify.com/track/7u63zva

Hell and You by Amigo the Devil - Longing for the unhealthy.

open.spotify.com/track/1zXLf1I

Vampire's Night Out by Harley Poe - Vampire goes out for an enjoyable evening.

open.spotify.com/track/7jN7uoP

Bad Bad Things by AJJ - This band is interesting. Trying to peel back the veneer of civility that exists in the world. This one, though, is about a murderer! Fun!

open.spotify.com/track/4s5Dywr

Oh Darlin' What Have I Done? by The White Buffalo - What do you have left after you've killed everything inside you?

open.spotify.com/track/18lZDzg

Solomon Grundy by Chuxx Morris - This is a nursery rhyme. The one DC Villain Solomon Grundy is based on. Rock it!

open.spotify.com/track/4r0Un07

Bottom of The Lake by The Builders and The Butchers - A song about a guy who's murdered by mob violence! Pay your debts to the mob.

open.spotify.com/track/3cBsyfm

Low Tide by O'Death - Apparently a song about drowning someone and throwing their body into the ocean at low tide. I think.

open.spotify.com/track/1HrzbWd

SO!. That's what I got for you today, enjoy it and remember to ! :D

There's a Starman waiting in the sky.
