Now I perfectly understand why doing this would upset some people and I'm fine with that.

But a big reason why the community continues to be garbage is because these mother fuckers are allowed to do what they want in private while putting on an agreeable and friendly public persona.

@Gargron The fact is Eugen would crumble if he had to endure the sick, twisted and dehumanizing constant abuse and harassment that Black and Brown folks go through. That gay people go through. That trans people go through. Hell, that women go through everyday.

This is not to say what he goes through doesn't matter, because it does. I do feel he is treated unfairly in some cases.

But the idea that he receives the worst of it is utter bullshit. If anything, he gets off very, very light.

I know this comment is going to set the fediverse on fire, but it needs to be said.

I will give @Gargron all the credit in the world for building Masto. At its core, it's a pretty good package, but as with most things its brilliance is in its ability to bring people together outside of a particular corporate influence. This is a great, great thing.

But his project also has plenty of funding and loads of contributors pushing it forward.

The idea he takes more bullshit than anyone is absurd.

And before you get all bent out of shape, yes, I've told Eugen this personally. His response was to unfollow and stop talking to me, which is his choice.

But it illustrates the gap of what he endures vs people that aren't young talented white guys with fully funded projects.

Ha, definitely losing some followers today.

@Surasanji There is such a thing as objective truth. There is such a thing as decency and fair play.

Many media outlets convolute these concepts for the sake of profit, but they just don't go away because people want to pay less attention to logic, empathy and reason.

My position to cut to the heart of the matter about certain topics offends people's personal sensibilities because they don't want their perspective to be pierced by reality.

And that's not my problem.

The internet is not the domain of white sensibilities. It is not the property of the most awful people humanity has to offer.

It is for all of us. There is space for everyone to have healthy community that actually edifies and brightens our lives rather than make it worse.

Many people who just so happen to be white do not believe that and they specifically target people like me to ruin our experience and sour the well.

But they cannot stop what I'm doing. They can't stop what we are building

They want me to admit I'm wrong about white people while simultaneously engaging in the behavior (over days) that prompted the comment in the first place.

And here's the thing. I've you've been following me for awhile, you know I'm not the type of person to be swayed by pile ons, insults, threats, white tempter tantrums, etc.

White people believe if they are awful enough to people like me we'll just be quiet and go away.

But I won't. And this makes white people on the fedi very, very angry.

I'm a reasonable person. If you believe me to be wrong, state your case. The most effective way of engaging with me is talking to me as a person.

However, there hasn't been one person who has disagreed with the sentiment that can do so in a rational intelligent manner. Not one.

It's either classically racist taunts or less than clever strings of insults meant to antagonize, intimidate, demean, etc.

Ha, which kind of proves my point about how insufferable white people are.

Ha, the weebos are still upset about my comment concerning how rare it is to come across white people that one can have a conversation with in a rational, calm and stable manner.

@Surasanji the rabbits, OTOH, just ignore me when I come home -- unless I carry a grocery bag, that is.

@Surasanji about the only time bunnies make a sound is when they're extremely scared (then they scream) or angry (then they thump their legs). And they're social animals, so if you have a few of them (like, 9) they have enough interaction between themselves and really don't care much about those huge strange creatures around them. Every once in a while, they might give you a little nudge with their noses.

But I sure can understand why people love cats. I sure love petting them when I can.
