I kinda wish mastadon wasnt anti-algorithm when it comes to your feed... The ideal, IMO, is that the user can pick whatever algorithm they want to effectively empower their feed and make discovery of new content better.

It's OK to talk about twitter and Musk on Mastodon (or any other social). What is happening is important and worth discussing. Do we really want a billionaire redefine the meaning of free speech just because he can? Have him actively silence any dissident voice while at the same time he sells himself as a free speech champion? Fuck that. I wrote my last tweet today and said goodbye to my 20k followers. I don't want to have any part in that.

Stanford president’s research under investigation for scientific misconduct, University admits ‘mistakes’
#ImageForensics
* Paper by University President Marc Tessier-Lavigne is now under investigation
* Theo Baker writes at The Stanford Daily.
Bik, though, disagreed with the university’s assertion that the “mistakes” do not impact the scientific integrity of the papers. “I do not agree with [the] statement that these issues have no bearing on the data or the results"

Makey was named as a possible successor of Lukashenko. He was one of the few not under #Russian influence.
Rumors say this might be a hint to #Lukashenko.

@Waldemar Here is a comparison of nighttime imagery few weeks before the war in in February, and now. I haven't explore the intrinsic variability not due to the war, but I think the difference is striking. The country is much darker now, towns are barely visible, which is at least partially due to the massive power cuts.

@RobinLacassin Thanks a lot! It's very cool (and sad of course). The effect on Ukraine is clear, absolutely no doubt.

The main variability source is with the moon cycle I guess + clouds, but that doesn't follow the borders.

@RobinLacassin I think you should show a before/after pair of pictures, otherwise we don't know what's the difference to the baseline. Browsing quickly through time I actually don't see much difference, but still there might be.

@Much2Croweded@c.im Is it true? Amazing!

@quest btw I'm no expert, I'm still experimenting here!

@quest I see it as a specialized timeline. You can follow people, hashtags or even keywords and they will show up when you open that list. Like another Home feed but focused on a specific topic.

#Introduction
Hi all, I am Elisabeth Bik, @microbiomdigest on Twitter. I am a Dutch/American microbiologist with a PhD from Utrecht University (not an MD).

In 2019 I started working for myself. I specialize in #ImageForensics, i.e. searching for image problems in published scientific papers, #ResearchIntegrity and #ScienceMisconduct.

I will start here by crossposting from Twitter (if allowed). Hope to meet and discuss problems in science papers with you here!

@quest Yes. You can follow hashtags and have the relevant toots show up in your home or any other list that you have. Go to

It was difficult for me to find it, people had to help me.
